We had a pretty odd experience at Evvel Zaman but then, we also came at an unusual time - right in the middle of Ramazan. The staff at the hotel were super laconic and cranky, and gave us conflicting information about when to come, whether they were holding our reservation and what food was available. In the end, we sat down for an iftar meal that turned out to not be an iftar meal at all. We ate some delicious dolma and the local Black Sea speciality, muhlama, after which we were just asked to leave. Moral of the story: try this place at your peril during Ramazan! If you do attempt it, suggest you reach at 630 pm.

This js a very unique place because while you are having a good meal or even just drinking çay or eating dondurma (ice cream) you can feel you are in the otoman period since this place has many old things (collection) and makes a better environment and you can see more about the Turkish culture, you can sit on the typical Turkish seats and tables surrounded by the traditional Turkish carpets, all is just amazing, definitely worth coming to this place.

In Rize, the place is quite close to the small bus stop for close regions. We went there for an early dinner and tried "Saç Kavurma" and "Haymana". Both were delicious, the second was made of corn bread with cheese and was very interesting. But the portions were small and we couldn't find many things written on the menu. To eat "hamsi" meals, a preorder should be done.

This restaurant is set in an old Ottoman house behind the mosque. It really feels as if you are eating in someone's home. The food is good and very affordable. Try the cabbage rolls, they are awesome. The sac is also a tasty option as well as the soup corbasi. They have a traditional breakfast but when I came in the morning they were closed. Nice humble place
