La La Lodge

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Oct 2024
Lala Lodge was a little haven for us . We arrived in Pemba with very little knowledge of the island. Luckily Dennis the owner has a wealth of experience and knowledge of Pemba after living here for the past 9 years. He organised and booked some fantastic day trips for us at very competitive prices and his lovely partner Ilham cooked us some delicious breakfasts and dinners. We initially booked for 1 night but ended up staying a week. Not only did we leave Pemba with some fantastic memories but we also left Lala Lodge feeling like we had made a friend.

Spent three days in this lovely corner of the South West coast of Pemba, away from mass tourism and idiotic wazungu. It's a lodge on the beach, and it gives you access to sensational views, and breathtaking sunsets. The landlady is extremely helpful and her food delicious. The Lodge facilitates some excursions too, which are well organised and perhaps a bit overpriced.
Overall this is a great experience and I'd go back to this place if I were to go back to Pemba.

Super beautiful lodge directly at the beach ( you can see it when you arrive with the ferry ). The owner Deniz is a nice and relaxed guy. He has a lot of nice story’s to tell ;) and he organised a super beautiful snorkelling tour on Misali Island for us. Amazing experience! Do it !
Also the food was super good. Would go there again.

Room tip: Misali Island snorkelling tour.

We had a great time at La La lodge. The location is perfect, you can watch the boats coming in and our son loved playing with the local children on the beach. Dennis and his staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. They helped us to make the most of our stay with them. We had a great trip to an island where we snorkelled and ate a lovely lunch that Dennis had made for us. Every evening Dennis cooked some fantastic food. Thank you for a truly fabulous and very personal stay.

We had a great time at Lala Lodge from every single point of view.

The owner (and chef) and the staff are very friendly, caring and knowledgeable on the island. The owner arranged for us the pick-up at the airport and all the excursions to the beautiful little islands surrounding Pemba.
Totally worth mentioning the meals that the owner/chef prepared: delicious, abundant, healthy and with high quality local products.

Last but not least the price, highly competitive especially when compared to the mainstream Unguja.

Room tip: Get in touch with the owner for anything you may need and get ready to experience wild, beautiful and peaceful nature

The worst place I have ever stay. The owner is a disgusting man and a liar. I booked in Booking.com a room for $ 18 room, after I checked in he canceled the reservation on the website and demanded a double amount. When I did not want to pay he started cursing me and threatened me that the police would arrest me. The room is on a filthy and disgusting beach and the rooms are full of insects and Mosquitoes.
