We booked in Mkoani because we had a ferry in the morning and we wanted to avoid problems. Arrived in the village, the taxi driver has crossed the market area that, like any market, is not the maximum order and cleanliness and we expected a hotel not very welcoming ... and instead, when the large door on the street opened, a an oasis of peace and serenity. Managed by Denis and his family, this hotel truly represents a hidden gem: small rooms, all on the ground floor, well cared for and ensuring the right comfort, what is correct to ensure, without exaggeration; but nothing is missing and everything is clean and nice. But the thing that made me and my family very happy is that Denis is also a cook and offers wonderful dinners on the raised deck, right on the beach: for us he cooked tuna with vegetables and curry, accompanied with rice; and a wonderful dessert with an ice cream and banana. The place works well also because Denis has been able to get in tune with the village, so that many people collaborate as staff, under his guidance; and it's nice to see how a foreigner (Denis is South African) managed to integrate this activity into the local society. Go there, it's a excellent experience!
