We went with Lookea a French tour firm, 3 of us in July 2014. The actual trip to Maxima Bay is seamless and only takes 45 minutes to arrive where the representative gives good info about the hotel en route.
Arriving at the hotel, the building seems a bit remote and isolated. Later in the week I was to discover that this was far from ideal as the food at this hotel is very average and 'samey' for the 2 weeks and as for looking for alternative restaurants etc nearby .... Well they don't exist. While on the topic of food ....
The chefs are obviously proud of what they do, and try to look the part but the quality of food was mass produced, repetitive and dwelled too much on dishes which are cheap to produce...ie. cheap grilled fish nearly every night, pancakes every morning and sometimes for dinner, cheap wine and fruit juices. In fairness the BBQed food was ok and typical of everything else in the area. ...kebabs and fried fish with the occasional alternative ie. a stir fry. In the dining area ... There are flies running about over the food in the buffet arrangement. The kitchen staff do seem to try hard though with what they have.... I guess. I was fed up with the food though at the end of the first week as everything seems to be deep fried or the other choices reminiscent of a school dinners menu.
Not terrible but certainly not great. The quality and selection of fruit was terrible .... The melon and watermelon was of poor quality and virtually tasteless and the peaches hard.....unforgivable as we went to the local market and bought a kilo of beautiful black cherries for 1.5 euros and big juicy peaches everywhere.....this really annoyed me.
The lookea staff ( who are French ) were great, full of energy and enthusiasm and who turn their hand at providing a very good show in the evening. The quality of this really was quite good and the Chinese Acrobat team they had on one evening was fantastic, getting a standing ovation. This team was faultless as far as we were concerned and put a lot of effort into their job.
The Turkish staff were ok, polite but not very engaging in comparison ..... The fact that everything is inclusive seemed to them not to require much more than just serving the drinks....the attitude a bit jaded. Another thing I didn't like was that the drinks are served in paper cups....tacky.
The rooms were clean and managed by nice ladies who were polite and friendly. The beds were rock hard though ...I mean really hard.
The beach and the sea was nice and clean, although a little cold during the first week but lovely and warm the second week. The beach is close to the hotel too which is good.
One side ( our side ) of the hotel overlooks an abandoned and derelict holiday village which is a shame as the views aren't bad otherwise.
The hotel as I say is remote, although the 10 minute walk up to the main road isn't bad and a bus takes you from there to the village ( 3kms) for 1 euro per person. There is a market there every Saturday selling good fruit and ( I assume by the low low prices ) knock off designer clothes, bags etc. In the other direction a bus will take you to the terminus at Izmir for 3 euros each person. Then you get the number 12 bus to the center of Izmir. Forget the annoying taxi drivers outside the hotel who don't seem to know the meaning of 'no'. We were ripped off by a taxi driver and soon learnt that they will give you false information to get you to go with them ....basically telling you what you want hear to get your money. The price seems to go up too when you arrive .... We should have written the price down first on a piece of paper and agreed it before getting in their taxi as their bad English seems to be the excuse for ' the misunderstanding'.
Overall the hotel was ok and we had a nice holiday .... I was annoyed that I forgot to take my driving licence as hiring a car to see real Turkish villages and some of the countryside would have made it a whole lot better.....plus points.....clean pools, the sheer effort of the Lookea team, nice gardens, clean beach and sea, cloudless skies for nearly the whole 2 weeks. If going to this area again I would choose a different hotel to be honest.

Room Tip: The use of the pool is forbidden at night and in the evenings so this side is quiet. The other side has nice sunsets but you overlook a derelict holiday village. Our beds were hard...very hard.

Amazing and wonderful place in Kushadasi. Very big area, clean and comfortable rooms, helpful and friendly staff, clean and big pools, animation team (Cagri), tearoom (Derya) and kids club staff (Ruveyda, Nina) are so excellent. General Manager of hotel very very helpful and friendly.

We absolutely loved it. Our expectations wouldn't match most tourists, because we were living in Turkey at the time and very used to the culture and food. The staff was helpful and we felt we were very well taken care of for the amount we paid. Our children had fun and we could relax. The pools and grounds were beautiful and the beach had great character. The waves were fun and on the north side, there were rock formations where waves made great displays as they crashed to shore. It has been some years ago (not actually October 2011) and I was looking on Google to find this place, because we enjoyed it so much. Google maps seem to have it pinpointed in the wrong location and with wrong directions from Ozdere....I had to search the shoreline to find the familiar features of the 3 pools, one of which has water slides and another which is heaven for young children. There is a playground, too.

Room Tip: A quieter room with beautiful view of the countryside can be found on the east side, while those desiring a pool or sea view would prefer the south or west-facing rooms.

It was likely to be worse than expected. But we did not actually expect so much dreadful and shoddy hotel. At the moment of admitting to the reception, we felt it would be a terrible holiday.
The first warning was that, “this is a French holiday village, so all the announcements are in French”. We were held as foreigners in our own country.
There is neither a bell boy nor a trolley to carry luggages. These kinds of jobs are being done by security officers. Transportation of luggages is being performed in several times. Meanwhile, they give some damage to luggages.
We were only given one room key. It would be more convenient if we had 2, so we could move independently in hotel. When we requested for another room key, the receptionist did not give and said that “If we give the second, the first is blocked”. What a wonderful explanation!!! However, the Turks who had come from France just said: “The reception, who doesn’t give you the second key, gives the second key to young people to take money from hotel room in order to obtain alcoholic beverages”. The reason they do not give the second key is to prevent the working of air conditioner. Hotel is completely trying to make profit. There is no value of the hotel customer satisfaction.
In restaurant, there were even no pitchers on the tables. You need to stand up many times and carry tap water with water glass. After many days, we learned that free water tickets were given from reception. Because we were not given tickets, we drank tap water during 6 days. Owing to warnings of other hotel customers, we could obtain water tickets. When we asked the receptionist why he did not give the tickets on arrival, he replied that “Probably, hotel reception was too busy at that time, so tickets were forgotten”. Actually, we arrived hotel with our own car and, the reception was extremely calm when we arrived. It is impossible to drink any other beverages except tap water during meals. If you want to drink other beverages, like cola or beer, the waiters point to the pool bar 200 meters away, so that you get yourself. In two remote corners of restaurant, there are two barrels filled with cheap wines. Everyone, including children gets wine very easily from these barrels. There is no alcohol control. What could be expected from such a hotel, which gives the second room key to young people for getting money to drink alcoholic beverages?
Foods are very bad. There are no more two kinds of the main meals. The other food trays are filled with boiled potatoes and broccoli, etc. Rice pilaf is a luxury food. It is cooked very rare. We ate pasta and eggplant in every meal. Every day, desserts only change shape. We saw the baklava only once during the nine days. Instead of cheese, precipitate cheese is served excessively for breakfast. In order to give an impression of different kinds of cheese, precipitates are served with spice and dried mint. When tea and coffee waste in teapots, they aren’t substituted. Although there is time for breakfast, deficiencies are not completed. There are also many flies. The same fruit yogurts and salads are served many times. Spilled residues on the floor and bench are not cleaned up.
If the air conditioner is working in the restaurant, it is being closed by an officer. If you insist, the waiters open the air conditioner reluctantly.
Drinks at the bar near the pool are served in plastic cups. These cups are collected again and immersed in water, then reused. The drinks called fruit juice are artificially colored drinks. There is not fresh fruit juice already, but we could not buy packaged fruit juice even with money. In hotel, we could not find anything for our child to drink.
The hotel staff was clearly unwilling or uninterested in being helpful. Workers are waiting for an opportunity to escape from work and frequently they are hiding. When there is a problem, neither employees nor management can find a solution. They just look at your face.
When we requested a reservation for a la carte restaurant, we were shown the menu. In a la carte restaurant, we had completely different dishes. There was no choice of meals. Already, this so-called a la carte restaurant was in a dark, damp and dirty place. It was illuminated by candle-looking lights. That was romantic a la carte restaurant as described on the Internet. Even here, the cups were plastic.
Essentially, we came to this hotel hearing the beautiful beach and sea. But the sea was too cold. We had to swim in pool.
Music and announcements begin at 9.30 and last till 19.00 without interruption. If you have a little child, it is impossible to get your child to sleep. It is extremely frustrating to hear the same song and French announcements continuously.
In hotel rooms, there are not even the simple needs such as cotton swabs, sewing kit, sanitary plastic bags, pencil and paper. There are not a piece of paper containing hotel information and telephone directory. There are only small plastic unlabeled bottles in bathroom. When used, they appear to be shampoo.
The number of hotel workers is insufficient. We waited until evening for housekeeping almost every day. We found a solution by giving garbage and taking clean towels. Tables in room were very dusty. We had to use the same bed sheets for many days. The same hotel employees are being worked for many different tasks. You can see the housekeeping workers when they turn dough on evenings. Just after cooking, the cooks in hotel kitchen do hotel cleaning.
Anı Tour staff was unqualified. On arrival, we were not given any information about hotel facilities. Because, we could see him only after days. We were given hotel bracelets and in a way, we were left in the hotel.
Well, was not there any good side of hotel? Eh! The swimming pool can be supposed clean. The air conditioner in room was working effectively. However, no doubt the hotel management will find a solution as soon as possible such as central air conditioning and cooling in limited hours. Most important of all was return home.

Who is tired to live-welcome to the Kusadasi, hotel Maxima!!
In August 2010 my daughter and me “had a luck” to get a rest in the much-praised hotel Maxima, where people, as the manager of “Top-tour”said, come to have a rest few times running. I don’t know where she did get such people but I won’t go there any more in life even if I was paid a lot of money as the health is more expensive and there is just one life..
Before go through all tortures of hell of an acute food poisoning we have heard the talk at the next table about this food must be sent to Minsk laboratory to check up. But didn’t understand the whole baseness of the offer at the moment. We were eating just only the food from Maxima hotel (by the way nasty sheep’s kidneys was the almost daily dish..it’s interesting, whether The Turk eat by themselves such a dish? Or this meal exclusively for the starving tourists??), and even if we would like very much to eat in the another place it would be highly and highly difficult as Maxima is the whole civilization in some kilometers territory around, were is no even phone to call home. To the main road, where possible to take a minibus once a 30-40 minutes, necessary stamping and stamping under the burning sun (if only not at night going there) along any desolate road, and then for the 40 minutes you nicely reach the town if you reach.. We had drink water neither from the tap, nor from the sea, nor from the water-pool and even swill out the mouth with the drinkable water from the bottles.
In a couple of days after our arriving after dinner my daughter felt, softly saying, bad: acute abdominal pains, sickness, multiple vomiting and diarrhea, fever. I had applied to the manager of the hotel for the help, and he in a rough form and in a high tone shouted that it’s impossible and gave to believe “get off”..
In a few days the same case happened with me. We were treated by ourselves, took from Minsk a bag of medicines otherwise perhaps we wouldn’t come back home without it.
We were called for the doctor but haven’t seen the doctor. The nurse came afternoon when the most acute period has gone and made an infusion of 0.5 l. of glucose without any another medicaments. Then the common analysis of blood was taken and later they said the analysis is good. (it was 12.000 of leukocytes! Where it’s good? It’s inflammatory analysis! They said it’s normal during vomiting. And the vomiting is a normal??) Before departure we have asked to write the certificate where they printed they carried out the whole course of medical treatment, that is the quite lie, and categorically refused to rewrite the certificate with the real treatment, take it with the mocking irony. We were applied to our hotel guide Nastia and ask to remove us to the another hotel, and she said that only with the additional “respectable” payment.
Recenly we have arrived at home and still feeling the consequences of the “beautiful” rest in Maxima..
I hope my case, presented me by the bad people, will be a good warning lesson for the many trustful people.
