We found the apartment we stayed in ("Cleopatra", 1 bedroom) too dark and gloomy and the quality of the bedlinen, pillows and kitchen appliances below average and a bit old. We had to always have the lights on and the Wi Fi was very difficult to connect to.
The garden is delightful with stunning views and the position of the apartments is excellent.

The Cleopatra apartment is the lowest and smallest of the four at Casa Spello but it suited us very well. We loved coming 'home' after a long day exploring towns and cities in Umbria and Tuscany, to enjoy drinks in the garden or restaurants nearby. The kitchen facilities were adequate for cooking a simple meal although some more appliances would be useful. A car is not necessary. Ideally located, you can walk to the supermarkets and public transport in the lower town or spend hours exploring the maze of beautiful streets and laneways of old Spello. A laptop would have been handy for booking tours and checking timetables, as well as communicating with the landlord.
