Our Mountain Magic flight was the highlight of our trip south. All of the staff and our Pilot Heff were super friendly, professional and easy to talk to. They had great knowledge of the area and were happy to answer any questions we had.
They were accomodating and flexible to ensure that we had the best weather conditions for the flight.

What a Kiwi experience we had with these guys. Friendly local people. Heff was our pilot he was happy to share his wealth of knowledge of the area. Stopping off at a picturesque mountain lake for once in a lifetime photots. We went on the Doubtful Sound flight. Truly beautiful. Stopped on another peak with amazing views of the sounds.

Southern Lakes Helicopters has reopened after NZ’s pandemic lockdown! My 2 boys (10 +12) and I thoroughly enjoyed the 40-min “Mountain Magic” scenic flight. We took off from the helipad on the shore of Lake Te Anau and flew up into the mountains, where we landed next to a pristine alpine lake nestled among the clouds and mountaintops. The flight offered a unique and beautiful perspective of this stunning part of the world. We saw waterfalls from the air; clouds pouring over ridges; craggy peaks; and deep valleys that rarely see humans. Our pilot also served as our tour guide, pointing out a number of different features and answering questions during the flight. My older son said the flight inspired him to be a pilot. The whole operation was well-run and professional, and the experience can’t be beat. Highly recommended!
