I wish I would read the reviews earlier. Unfortunately the Hotel Gaurav location and photos looked okay to me and I booked 2 double deluxe and 1 single deluxe rooms through Agoda. While checking in, the reception guy told rudely that they did not receive the money for rooms and got the money for 2 single rooms instead. I showed them the receipt, they told me "that receipt is from Agoda, not from us!!!". That was a shock for me. The most ridiculous staff I have heard there. I told them, Agoda is an internal brand and I have been travelling internationally with them since years. They just shouted on me and repeated the same words again. Since I was travelling with my wife and friends and the stay was for only one day I decided to give it a try, may be I need to give them some extra money (may be it was Kanpuri style since I arrived a little earlier than normal check in hour). Well, we headed for the room. Believe me, with all intentions to compromise the rooms were so dirty we immediately understood this was going to ruin my entire trip. We immediately left with no compensation however. The manager and reception guy was so pathetic, I thought for a second whether I was at all speaking to some hotel management. I went to a different hotel, way better at the same price. Later on while talking to Kanpur folks, everyone exclaimed "who gave you the idea of staying in Gaurav! That is a bad place." Well I learnt that by then, my bad.
