As per review title really.
I would give a 5 if there were no issues at all however it was virtually impossible to get a sunbed to use after 9/10am (on the side of Peoples Snack Bar). There is a notice poolside about reserving sunbeds but it is not enforced and nobody takes any notice. This was from majority British people too, not Europeans. People blatantly going down with towels at 8am not coming back until 11am or later. Unfortunately you have to become part of the problem otherwise you wouldn't have anywhere to sit for the day.
There are plenty of hotel grounds that could be developed for additional outdoor. space.
Housekeeping insisted on changing beds while we were in the room when we didn't require it but wouldn't take no for an answer.
There is a really slippy part between the two pools that is not cleaned - water collects, turns green and is ultra slippy.
Despite this
Friendly English Man on duty for our arrival however local staff on reception were friendly and helpful but only needed them when I went to pay local tourist tax
Room is clean, tidy, a bit tired in places but there were USB chargers, free air-con, and the usual self catering facilities.
On-site snack bar (Peoples) very good.
Solve the sunbed problem and get a '5' bearing in mind its star status.

Just come back from a fantastic experience at Matina! We were welcomed by very friendly and helpful receptionists, and it was very easy to find our apartment. The facilities were great, plenty of sunbeds by the pools, two places to eat and a supermarket. The thing that really made our stay special was the staff - all waiters were so friendly and chatty and said goodbye when we left. Food was very good quality and great value for money. Live music in the evenings sounded fab, and there was good coverage of the football final in the bars! There was a fantastic acrobatics performance by one of the pools one time (picture shown). Also the most perfect location because it was a 2 minute walk to the beach! We will definitely return, but this time with all our friends :)

Fantastic self catering hotel. Very clean, staff are friendly, helpful, and easy to talk to. Rooms have everything you need for a good stay. 3 pools, which are cleaned every day. 5 minutes from the beach, restaurants, and bus stop to travel the island. Surrounded by large hills and stunning scenery. Definitely worth the visit.
