We stayed at Matina in a studio apartment for 10 nights in July. Superb location - very close to beach and numerous good bars and restaurants. Pool areas, staff and on-site supermarket are excellent. Our apartment was very basic and in need of upgrading. The internal walls and furnishings were scruffy and tired. We’d return to the area but probably not to this accommodation unless we knew the rooms had been improved.

We would like to clarify that our Hotel is a 3* Hotel our rooms reflect this star rating. We would also like to mention that of course our rooms do suffer minor wear and tear throughout the season, which if course we do our very best to repair and keep on top of - however this is much more difficult during high season (when you stayed) as our rooms are booked back to back for the entire period. We are sorry that you felt the rooms were not up to the standard that you expected.

We have just returned from a great holiday. The rooms are basic but have everything you need and we had a great balcony. The beds are very comfortable. The rooms are immaculate, housekeeping is fantastic and no end of clean towels and toilet paper.
We were self catering, you can budget your holiday to your means. Great supermarket on site, however a full English breakfast can be as little as 5. euros.
We ate out at night and there is a fantastic array of restaurants within 2-10 minute walking distance.
We purchased drinks at the supermarket & drank them around the pool. The supermarket do sandwiches for 2 euro.
The staff are great and extremely helpful.
We hired a car and found the roads fine with very little traffic.
If I wanted to be picky, don't like shower curtains & they will only give you one room key which can be a pain.
Overall a fantastic place for a great holiday. Location is amazing, 2 minutes from the beach. Will definitely return. Thank you!!!

We would like to clarify that we do not allow guests to eat or drink items not purchased from our snack bars at any of the pools. This is for tax purposes and we do clearly state this on the signs that are situated around the pool. The purpose of providing an extensive range of food and drink at our supermarket is due to the Hotel being self catering, and guests consume these items in their room.

Rooms were very basic and need updating. The customer service in the on-site mini market was shocking.
The rest of the staff were amazing though, super friendly and welcoming. The location was perfect as it was so close to the beach and bars and the pool areas were great. No sun bed wars either unlike other holiday locations. Air con is free which isn’t the case with other hotels in the area who charge €10 per day.

As you don't mention any details at all with regards to your experience in the supermarket, we are unable to respond to this allegation. However, we would like to state that we rarely receive anything but positive feedback with regards to our abc supermarket staff. It would be useful in future to offer more details when making allegations in a public forum, to afford the business in question the opportunity to investigate, respond and improve their services.

Basic but clean apartments. Good maid service regarding towel changes and cleanliness. Good pools, tho the floors surrounding could do with a jet wash. Noticed that more in 2nd week when hotel was full.
Nice friendly staff. Special shout-out to Leo (nickname) , I hope that's correct , who works at people bar. Young lad but very pleasant and great at his job.
Food at Matina we found to be very good. My son says the milkshakes were amazing!
Good location. 1 minute to beach, bars and restaurants on doorstep.
Well stocked shop on site but found it to be quite expensive.

However, as your review was extremely positive, it is difficult to understand why you decided against marking the Hotel the maximum 5/5, therefore we are unable to improve our service in order to achieve the highest rating in the future.
We would like to clarify that the pool areas are thoroughly cleaned every evening including floor areas. The pools have very heavy use during high season and for this reason, the pool cleaning is not an area that is ever compromised on. It is also a very visible process.

Loved this place, location was fabulous , 2 min walk to beach. Reception staff so helpful and friendly. Plenty of good bars and shops on your door step and some great restaurants especially Meltemi beautiful food and lovely staff. Only the 2 of us but we had a 3 bed apartment so plenty of space. The only thing I definitely wudnt recommend is the on site snack bar called Matina Snack Bar, we ate breakfast there on our first morning which was nice enough and didn’t eat there again until the day we left . Went there for a quick lunch and it was terrible !!! We had what was supposed to be a chicken and bacon feta salad 2 very small pieces of dry chicken NO bacon just cheap processed ham and very soggy brown lettuce and everything else was tomatoes . It was very disappointing no time to complain as we were leaving soon after . I did hear other people who weren’t happy either. This was our only bad meal of the holidays so wasnt too bad. But I would recommend Matina.

We are sorry that one of the two meals that you ate at Matina Snack Bar were not up to your satisfaction. Had you spoken to our staff about this, they would certainly have rectified this issue for your and and we're sorry that they did not have that opportunity. We unfortunately cannot take in consideration hearsay from other guests in relation to your review but can confirm that we received excellent feedback from our guests with regards to the meals and staff at Matina Pool Bar last summer.
