“Special Birthday in Charming Stone Cottage”
Reviewed 4 April 2014 for a stay in May 2013

We had a very happy, relaxing and tranquil stay at Le Tilleul. The house itself is clean, comfortable and well laid out with a good open plan kitchen, dining and sitting area with a beautiful fireplace and wonderful stone walls. The enormous wide open view from the terrace is really impressive, great to contemplate day and night. We enjoyed exploring the surrounding countryside, lots of pretty villages, markets and good food.

“This property is an absolute Gem - a little bit of paradise not too far away'”
Reviewed 3 April 2014 for a stay in June 2013

Tranquil scenic location conducive to reading and general relaxation suberb for al fresco dining three or four meals per day, first class tennis Court which is generally always available for your use, lovely relaxing swimming pool near to the Court. The layout of the lower ground floor and first floor are particularly good in affording space and privacy to each level. Very well- equipped comfortable interior wonderful wood and stone finishings, spotlessly clean interior and lovely terrace and gardens. Other properties in grounds are very well spaced apart adding to the quiet and relaxing atmosphere of the farmhouse and it's grounds. Many nearby restaurants are there to be enjoyed with a huge variety of dining experiences from Chateaux to Cafe - restaurants or Creperies . Also there is a beautiful lake with sandy beaches a cycle ride away with restaurants and a famous monastery and Abbey lie not too far beyond - we cycled to both locations from the property in half a day enjoying cycling swimming an glorious sunshine illuminating very interesting countryside along our routes It is also not too far to travel by train or car to medieval St Emilion home of the 'grand cru' and sample the wonderful wines at many and varied Chateax and caves along the way. We enjoyed canooing down rapids on nearby rivers and visits to Angouleme, Riberac and other interesting towns and villages highlighted by the owners in all their literature awaiting your visit - we will definitely be back here to this wonderful spot - ideal for friends families and couples alike,

“Just what we wanted - lovely house, great views, quiet”
Reviewed 2 April 2014 for a stay in April 2013

A lovely house in tastefully converted farm complex . Open plan ground floor with terrace and far-reaching view over the countryside falling away to the south - 2 bedrooms on 1st floor share a good bathroom and private bedroom with own facilities on the lower ground.
Peaceful location - a few cottages beside and behind - great to walk or cycle out from.
Many things to do nearby with car - villages, towns, markets, river kayaking, St. Emelion vineyards, etc.
Riberac for supermarket and bar/cafes.
We went in early spring and had some lovely days. Went out to restaurants on 2 nights and stayed in and cooked on the other evenings and lit the wood-burning stove (not strictly necessary but nice to enjoy.

“Stunning Views, Lovely House”
Reviewed 23 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We have just completed our third stay at this property, September 2013. This is our first review, but we stayed twice in 2012 too. The house has always been very clean and in excellent condition upon arrival, the location is wonderful - stunning views over open countryside and a well-positioned terrace to enjoy them while having a meal, drink, afternoon tea or simply daydreaming. The atmosphere is very tranquil. The pool is large and is shared with 5 other properties and the tennis court is a welcome bonus. The owners have supplied lots of tennis rackets and balls for the use of their tenants. The house is well equipped throughout, especially kitchen utensils, and is spacious enough to accommodate 6 people comfortably. There is a small TV which picks up UK stations if you are desperate, but there is so much else to do, particularly when the days are long. The lower-ground floor bedroom and bathroom provides added privacy for one couple. Simone the local manager is very friendly and helpful, but be prepared to speak French to her! The surrounding area is beautiful and tranquil, quintessential rural France. The location near to Riberac means shops, services and the buzzing weekly market are nearby, and there are several good restaurants within easy distance, including a great creperie within a relatively short walk. This house is ideal for family and/or friends to share a convivial break in rural France.
