We stopped at this small Locanda on our way down from hiking up to the Volta Lighthouse (Faro Voltiano) that sits atop Branate which is a town perched above the town of Como on the namesake lake. It's about a 30 min hike from where you exit the funiculare from Como. We sat outside at a table overlooking the town of Branate and the hills beyond Como. Both the views and food were "to live for"! We began with a mixed antipasti of olive crostini, a couple if slices of a white ricotta pizza, asparagus fritters, prosciutto and salami. We shared a tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms, and I had a spicy baby octopus dish and my better half had slices of roasted veal with potatoes. Coupled with a half carafe of wine and the view, this is what we come to Italy for! A meal and view that we'll take to our graves, and always remember.
