Beautiful resort - enjoyed the visit once the sales push stopped!

We stayed at the resort in June 2024 and overall, had a very good experience.
The good:
- The hotel grounds are beautiful! You really feel like you are in the tropics and a real plus was all of the wildlife (flamingos, swans, couti, agouti, fish, etc). I thought our room (junior suite near pool) was nice. Yes, it could be updated, but we thought it was spacious and the balcony was nice. Beds were comfortable. Overall, good for a family of 4.
- Food and drink were great. We always set the bar a little lower for an all-inclusive, but we were impressed. Of course, the best was the Mexican/local food. We noticed that most people didn't eat that food and so maybe that's where some of the complaints were, but we also had plenty of good food at every meal.
- The pools were really nice and the beach was a pleasant surprise. Compared to Cancun, it was far more calm and we were able to enjoy it nearly every day. There was some seaweed, but they kept the area cleaned up and it was better than it was in Cancun.

The not so good:
- The sales tactics to purchase a membership was the worst part. At check-in they pushed it. They kept sliding reminders under our door about it. And I had to tell three people that we absolutely had no interest in attending a 90 minute sales breakfast. Upon further pushing, I let them know we were there to celebrate the end of my cancer treatment and the employee actually sighed and rolled her eyes. Even I had to laugh at that.
- I had to ask repeatedly for the resort credits ($500) we were to receive upon check in. The same employee from the point above, finally gave them to me and said, "here you can have $600 - they're worthless anyway." An interesting tactic to make guests feel welcome!
- Speaking of - resort credits weren't helpful. $25 off a $150 massage doesn't do a lot.

Overall, enjoyed this trip with my family, especially once we got past the sales push.

Great spot for families. Pool is great. Highly recommend Smoke House restaurant!! Service has been great. If I have one complaint, it’s mosquitoes, but to be expected in the environment. Just bring or buy bug repellant. Wildlife was also really great experience, birds, monkeys, lizards.

Please RUN from this hotel. Iberostar Paraíso beach. The people have some thing against Americans or Indians. We were treated very very very bad. They gave preference to Europeans than other folks. Food was horrible. It rained all 5 days. That should not affect food at all. They said because of rain they are serving good. That is bull s—-

This was our fourth visit to this property. We have stayed at the Beach and the Maya. This trip we stayed at the Paraiso Beach property. The grounds are some of the most beautiful in the Mayan Riviera. Lots of animals wandering around the property. This is a great resort for couples or family. The property and pool are both large enough that you don't feel like you are tripping over other people. The food was great, as always. We used one of the al-a-carte restaurants-The Japanese. It was entertaining and the food was very good. A special mention of Fatima that works in the buffet restaurant during the morning. Another special mention to Angel who works at the pool bar at Paraiso Beach. We would also like to mention William Vera, the tattoo artist who has a shop in the shopping center on the Iberostar property. William is a very talented artist and a very nice guy. My wife and I had him do some work for us and we are very pleased. We can wait to visit again! Thank you Iberostar!!

My friend and I stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Beach in June 2024. The grounds are huge, so make sure you can walk a LOT. There are golf carts to take you most places. We were on the second floor with no elevators. The rooms need to be updated and there are very few outlets for charging any of our devices in the room we had. Lighting in the bathroom wasn’t good.

The beach was full of seaweed. They tried to get rid of it on a daily basis, but it was too much. We didn’t swim in the ocean because it was too rough. The beach chairs are not cushioned.

The food was good. Make your reservations as soon as you can for the Japanese and Brazilian restaurants.

The most disappointing thing was the lack of shows in the evening. To see their actual shows, you had to pay extra. At other resorts we’ve seen Magic shows steel bands, mariachi bands, Michael Jackson show and other forms of live entertainment. The resort is sadly lacking in in these. We were told the Mexican show was at the mall, but it wasn’t there.

The grounds are beautiful. The exception to this was the macaws in a very small enclosure that seemed sad and inhumane for these beautiful animals.

The resort is dated and needs refurbishing. The shopping mall is very expensive, and I definitely would not recommend buying anything there. The exception to this is the coffee and donut shop which we enjoyed very much and is included in the all-inclusive plan. I didn’t care for the taco place.

The spa is lovely and probably my favorite part of the whole trip. Massages are expensive as you would expect at any resort, but you also get the use of the beautiful facilities there as well.

We ate at the mediterranean restaurant on the Del Mar side, and it was our favorite by far.

This resort is part of five total resorts in one. If you stay here, I’d go to the Del Mar. Their lobby and decor was the prettiest. There’s also the Lindo, the Maya, and the Grand.

We did pay to see their magic and music show at the Grand’s theater. My friend noticed how worn the carpet was as we entered the theater. I do recommend this show and meal.

Overall, I would not recommend this resort. I think you can do better at other places. This is the second time I’ve stayed in the Riviera Maya area and the seaweed has been bad both times.

I have been to nine other resorts in the Caribbean and Mexico, and I do not understand the high rating.
