We are on the last of 8 nights here and absolutely love the place. First of all, because of Covid, a hotel with over 400 rooms had less than 100 guests the entire time we were here. It's like having the place to yourself and not having to worry about fighting for the best spot at the pool.
Rooms: The rooms are spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the view excellent. Ours came with a huge tub, king sized bed and great view. The only knocks I have on it is that it would be nice to have a microwave for reheating food in our room. Also, there isn't a fan in the toilet area, so if you are dying to keep the romance alive, you may want to "go for a walk" and do your business elsewhere. Finally, the water temperature came and went during showers, so it's always good to be cautious and ready for a quick spout of scalding or freezing water. We turned it into a contest.
Food: This is an all-inclusive place whose food was reflective of a very high end hotel/resort. Many of our meals were good, but most were great. They had a great breakfast buffet at ChoiceZ where chefs like Denmar were happy to serve you and even make things on special request. This morning he made me a breakfast burrito and then saw another couple walk up that had eaten there for a few days. Before they could give him their order, he had already made their breakfast. We ordered room service a couple times for dinner and loved the Club Sandwich, Chicken Fettuccine A La Carbonara and Rigatoni Alla Bolognese. The meat sauce in the Rigatoni would rival most of my family's sauce. We ate at FuZion one night on the Wok Station and that was entertaining, but last night my wife wasn't feeling well so I called to see if they would do take out on the Ala Carte Menu. Twenty minutes later I picked up what to date was our best meal. This had an Indian flare and the Butter Chicken, Chicken Karaage and Shrimp was absolutely incredible. Today we were at the beach and got to order from Jamaica RootZ for lunch. Again, absolutely incredible. I had the Peppa Stake Loaded Potato and my wife the Curry Veggie Pasta. They even have a coffee house that serves coffee and treats and also a dessert place called BiteZ (at Ziva) where you can get desserts and ice cream. I saw a couple negative reviews about not all of the restaurants being open, but when you have a capacity of 1,500 and less than 100 people at staying here, they don't have an option to keep everything open. We were here for 8 nights and don't feel like we missed out on anything.
Covid and Sanitation: This was probably the most impressive. They require that you wear masks when you walk around the property and sanitize your hands every time you walk into a dining area. They change the mattress covers on the lounge chairs around the pool more than once a week and are always spraying the chairs and tables down with sanitizer. The staff are constantly washing their hands. I honestly feel that I am more protected from Covid here than at home. Hyatt also offers free Covid testing for those staying at least 3 nights prior to heading home. We took our test yesterday and had the results this morning.
Spa: We did a massage at Ziva in one of the houses on the water. It was absolutely incredible. They even ended our massage by putting our hands together, though it did take my wife a minute to realize she was holding my hand. She actually thought it was some bonding thing with her masseuse. The only down side to the spa was that because of Covid, all of the other amenities like the sauna and hot tub were shut down.
Service: Saved the best for last here because this was exceptional. The entertainment staff like Michael was engaging and friendly and the servers in every place were super nice. We befriended Toni-Ann by the pool our first day and the next day she had a place reserved for us. Today was her day off, yet we went to the pool area and Ingrid had set up a spot for us. Jamaican people are SOOOOO nice and the attitude here doesn't seem to change whether you tip them or not. They all seem like genuinely nice people . Of course we did tip all of them because tourism is Jamaica's #1 revenue generator and because of Covid, these people have been hurting.
So in summary, if you'd love to have a great experience and feel like you own the place, then please come check the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall out. It is one of the nicer places I have stayed in a long, long time.
We liked it so much that we are going to book a trip next month to Hyatt Ziva in Puerto Vallarta with my wife and two younger kids.
