We recently did a West Coast trip going north and I’d always wanted to visit the Pancake Rocks. We stayed here in a Queen/Queen oceanview room. View and seclusion was amazing. The room and bathroom decor was tired and dated, and we were unable to open the only window in the room for fresh air due to the sandflies fighting to get in. A flyscreen on the window would’ve made a huge difference to our stay especially with the summer heat. You’ve got a beautiful unique setting there, it would be great to see the rooms updated to match. The restaurant has prime rugged coast views, the service and food was good, but expensive.

Punakaiki Resort my new favourite getaway. Super professional efficient service, glorious food - orange roughly sliders ftw! The foam has captured my inner child and did not disappoint. We changed all our rooms to be closer to the beach, hassle free and fast adjustment. Brenda is fantastic, compliments to the chef.

The resort is lovely and the grounds are very well kept. Amazing sea views which elevate it to something special. Service was excellent both at booking and upon arrival.
Location is great and it is just a short walk to the Pancake rocks.
The big disappointment was the restaurant. The menu is very expensive for what is is as is the wine list. They have you captured as there is not alot of choice for eating out. The menu needs to be revamped and better value for money so you would then end up eating and drinking more and probably want to go back. We did not stay for breakfast as it was neither exciting nor value for money.
We probably won't return due to the disappointing restaurant though if you are prepared for this the great views are still worth it

Our room was large with two good size comfortable beds with gorgeous sea view and beautiful scenery. On the day when we arrived it was raining and we had to carry our own luggage and our room was the furthest away. We were drenched!

The view was beautiful from our room. The room itself was comfortable and well appointed. A short walk and access, through a tunnel to the restaurant. We enjoyed a very good meal and pre dinner drink looking over the beach and listening to the surf. I would definitely stay here again if on the West Coast and recommend to other travelers. Very good value for money, clean and restful.

Room tip: We loved the elevated view.
