We (3 couples and kids) recently stayed for a night at Balrampur House in late June. The initial impression was quite good given how crowded the Mall Road was, while Balrampur is far away from the chaos and hustle and bustle. It is located in serene surroundings with the mountains in the background and a long driveway which ensures you are away from the relentless honking of vehicles passing by. There is a general tranquillity about the place which's very welcoming after a tiring and long drive from Delhi. We were checked in quick enough and shown to our rooms on the first floor. The rooms (super deluxe) were very spacious and had a good mix of period furniture and modern elements (flat screen TV, tea maker). We, however, struggled to find points to charge our mobiles as most of the sockets were either not working. I found this a bit weird considering how little it takes to fix them. The washroom was again very ample but again, the bathtub did not have a drain plug which meant we ended up using it as a shower area - on hindsight, I believe this might have been a strategy to save water! The buffet dinner was laid out in the open and I remember most of the items (especially the kheer) was good and tasty.

One big disappointment was breakfast - not only was the restaurant is clearly not meant for more than 20 people at a time, and was too crowded for comfort. The breakfast spread was very average and we struggled to find something interesting to eat - the paranthas were tasteless, the masala omelette was semi-cooked and coffee was more of a cup of milk with some coffee powder grains in it. While checking in, another thing I noted while my friend tipped 2 of the staff members - the third one spoke up and said there were 4 of them, so we should pay more generously! Very proactive staff, must say :)

Overall, it's a good property which, with some improvements in service standards, could potentially become a great property.

We visited last year for our honeymoon in second week of rainy july..weather was sooo romantic and we dont wanna stay in some kind of hotel stuff..we needed something different.Luckily we found this place and stayed there for 3 nights on first floor which has a big common balcony. Its a big Royal haweli with luxuries, big rooms, bathrooms, a beautiful big garden where u can take a nature walk in the morning.Lovely place to relax, good quality food, variety of very tasty food in buffet,Mr.Aalam and whole staff was really helpful, desciplined, good hospitality clean and hygienic place. They maintained every thing of that place very well. All in all its a beautiful property.Very quiet rooms.. so much that we got scared at mid night coz that time we were alone in that big house ;) But I just loved it..and wish to visit again..Awesome mausam and balrampur house
Made our honeymoon so special. :)

Balrampur House is an excellent place to relax.
Away from the crowd of Nainital, with its beautiful gardens, Balrampur House serves as a place to relax and enjoy for both children and adults.
Had a very lovely stay! :)

Stayed with family at Balrampur house this June - it's a lovely heritage property with huge lawns and an old world charm. The service and food was very good. The room size was good though upkeep of furniture can be improved.

It's about 2 kms from the Mall in a quiet corner with great view of the mountains - you can go for small treks around the place.

The kids enjoyed the open space as well as other games like cricket, badminton, football and carrom.

Would highly recommend this place.

Balrampur House is a heritage resort which needs to keep pace with the modern requirements and aesthetics. Heritage resort does not mean that one should not upgrade its facilities. It is a good spacious property but it needs to replace its old beds, sanitary fittings, torn carpets on staircase and improve lighting, photographs, cutlery and overall ambience. There is no proper reception area and dining hall. There is no visitors lounge. Newspaper and magzines are not available on time. Service counters in dining hall look like small time restaurant and doesnot befit the expectations from a heritage resort. It is a overpriced heritage resort which needs immediate attention to keep pace with the modern times. It is located near high court which has a steep climb. Once the guest has reached resort he/she will think twice to go down in the market. Though the resort provides taxi service it is advisable to include all three meals in the package. It is good for relaxation with lot of greenery, vegetation and walking space. There is a need to upgrade the fountain and develop the garden area. More swings and kids playing equipments can be placed in the garden to keep the children occupied. There are no signages. Guests face problems in stopping their vehicles on steep slope and narrow roads to ask for directions. The resort need to put signages every 200m to guide the guests. Overall average resort which is not fully utilising its location , space and potention. It is living in time warp and needs to pay attention towards its guests before it is too late.

Room tip: Good if you want to live in old world charm entrapped in a time warp
