“Great Location with Nice People”
Reviewed 6 July 2017 for a stay in June 2017

This is our second trip here. I normally don't go back to places over again but I made a exception here. Gina and Alan our the most wonderful hosts. Anything you need they will take care of. We got up one morning and it was raining outside. We opened the door to head out for the day and we found two umbrellas waiting at the door. They are also very helpful when I'm trying to learn how to do things in France. If you are an English speaker this is a must. They also have some important things waiting for you when you get their like milk in the fridge. I can't say enough about these two.

The gite is in the country but very convenient for the Normandy area. You are 40 minutes to Bayuex, Mon Saint-Michel, D-Day Beaches and Caen. Saint Lo is even closer. There are places in the local area that are also nice to have a wonder through. But it is nice to come back from a day of adventures to a place you can relax. Internet is good which is critical when your traveling.

“We felt very welcome - great place to stay”
Reviewed 17 November 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Enjoyed our short stay very much. Were particularly impressed with the thoughtful provision of all necessities by the owners - while we brought everything we thought we might need, it was all there for us to use, including the items we didn't think to bring.
Facilities in the cottage are very good, it's cleaned to perfection and we had comfortable, relaxing stay, despite the rainy weather.
There surroundings and the countryside nearby is just what we were looking for, with a lot of fresh air, a village with shops about a mile away.
And the best of all the owners were very friendly, welcoming and there when we needed them, but we didn't see or hear them when we chose to keep to ourselves.
Can't think of a better base for a sight-seeing, exploring holiday.

“Beautiful, peaceful location with incredibly lovely owners”
Reviewed 3 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

My husband, 4 yo son and I stayed with Gina and Alan at their Grand Gite for a week in August 2016 and we would very highly recommend it to you. Firstly, Alan and Gina are lovely people who made us feel right at home. They could not have been more welcoming or hospitable. They live at the property so were always available for advice and information if we needed it, but gave us privacy so that we came and went as we pleased. They took us to the famous creperie on our first evening and we went back there ourselves at the end of our week ! We also met some of their local French neighbours when they dropped in for visits, which was great.

The second excellent part of our visit was the location of the gite. It's not the place to be if you're interested in a buzzing nightlife but, with our son, it suited us perfectly. It is a couple of kilometres from the village of Moyon, which has a bakery and a small restaurant, along with a tabac/small supermarket (Coccinelle) run by a really lovely local couple who we befriended during our week. It was the best spot for a coffee in the mornings and for a wine/beer in the afternoons where we could watch the locals go about their business and practise our French with them. The gite is 20 mins from the much larger city of St Lo and the excellent Saturday morning farmer's markets (definitely go there to grab fantastic fruit, vegetables, breads, seafood and cheeses) and is 1 hour from both the Bayeux Tapestry and Le Mont-St-Michel. We also spent time along the D-Day beaches coast (about an hour away).

There is some flexibility with the gite as to the number of bedrooms and the bedding configurations so it's worth emailing Gina with any queries you have if you're interested in staying there.

I can't recommend this gite highly enough to you if you're looking for something peaceful on a beautifully maintained 5 acre property with a lovely, English-speaking couple and their friendly dog, Lulu, as hosts.

“Alan and Gina most delightful hosts”
Reviewed 16 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Alan And Ginas 'La Noette' grand gite. Once we found the right route (behie) , which you can access from Moyon or Tessy Sur Vire, it was easily found by the white arrows saying 'Alan and Ginas Gite' at the start of the acces road of the property. We were with our 9 year old, who was afraid she might get bored in a cottage after having spent 1.5 weeks on a campsite with lots of other kids. No chance of that, with plenty of outdoor and indoor games. We played boules, badminton and ping pong every day, tried the large variety of games in the cottage in the evenings and with all British free view channels available on to, on the rare occasion we got a chance to watch TV we had plenty of choice in channels to watch. Alan and Gina most delightful hosts we could wish for, always working hard to improve the cottage experience and their lovely garden. We found a hornets nest next to our balcony on the first night and within a day they cleared it completely for us. They checked if we liked dogs as soon as we arrived and when we said our daughter was afraid of dogs, they ensured their gorgeous Labrador LuLu was kept on the lead. Ilse, our daughter, soon made friends with Lulu though, as she is the most well behaved dog. Ilse also made friends with next doors pony, who enjoyed all of our left over apples and carrots. The cottage itself is delightful and very homely. We found it easy cooking there every night, with all pans to hand, as well as a wide range of utensils. the only night we didn't cook was when we visited the local creperie by the Rocks of Ham. Gina booked it for us, as our French is pretty poor. We enjoyed visiting local villages and sights, but also spent a lot of time going further afield. the Normandy beaches are within an hour away, and we took the route suggested on one of the papers available in the cottage; from point de Hoc down to Arromanches, where we visited to 360 degree cinema (the trip and cinema was well worth doing, it took us a full day, but we saw most of the beaches and really felt we got an insight in the horrendous DDay battles). We also visited Bayeux and its tapestry and fine cathedral, Caen and the grave of William the Concorer (only one bone is left in the grave, mind you), Castello beach (great for sunbathing and rock pooling) near Granville, and mount Saint Michel (the most amazing place!) all of the above are within an hour from the cottage by car. Thank you Gina and Alan for being such friendly hosts, you couldn't do enough for us, and made us feel most welcome. We hope to be back next year.

“Simply the best!”
Reviewed 4 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

What can we add that hasn't already been said in previous reviews?...........

The most wonderful and relaxing place to be, Gina and Alan excel at being generous and delightful hosts. The gite is both comfortable and spotlessly clean with all the facilities needed for that ' home from home feel'. Everything is A*. A welcome cup of tea on arrival ,Gina's lovely homemade muffins and the delicious boxes of french patisserie that Alan bought us throughout the week added to this!
On arrival there was local cider, beer and a bottle of wine in the fridge + gorgeous fresh cakes, which after the long drive was very welcome. In addition the WiFi was brilliant ( a must for teenagers ).
Centrally located, with easy access to all routes ; Mont St. Michel, Bayeaux, The Landing Beaches, Caen etc, everything is within 1hr drive or less and the roads are a delight to drive on.
This was our 1st time exploring Normandy and we were quite humbled by some of the places we visited especially the British War graves in Bayeaux.
A must to visit is La Roche du Ham , where fantastic crêpes are served overlooking a breathtaking ravine , followed by a walk ( or cycle) along the river. Both Gina & Alan were great at recommending places to visit and this was one of them, we loved it as it was a glorious sunny day but in any weather it would be good.
Like others it is somewhere we would like to return as there's still many places in the region we would like to visit, its great having somewhere that is somewhere as wonderful as LaNoette to stay at .
