My daughter and her husband found this villa and decided to book for a weeks stay, we travelled from Malaga airport and it took approx 1 hour and we arranged to meet the owner on the road near Velez Malaga, we followed her up a mountain road to the villa, upon arrival she opened the gates and we drove up the drive way, we were shown into the villa and around inside, She explained various things like if we used over a certain amount of water from the rear holding tank we would then be charged, we were not told how much water we could use, if there was a meter installed we could monitor how much water we are using ( with a family of 5 adults and 3 young children what do you expect ).The lady did not show us around outside, only her young son took cushions for the outside seating, she said a person would call during the week to the clean pool and hot tub, ( we did not see anyone ), she did say her husband would call later in the week to check how much water we had used, ( he called on the day before we were leaving and said our usage was ok )
All the family had a great holiday, The villa is in a great location, nice and quiet away from all the busy holiday location.
When we arrived home my son in law received an e-mail from the owner saying they were going to take 140 euros out of our bond, due to filters in hot tub being dirty ( contaminated by?, we did not having evidence the filters were clean or dirty on our arrival ) The controls were faulty and only working on 2 modes.
Faults we noticed at the villa
The kitchen cooker hood not working.
Various electrical bulbs not working and missing.
Table Tennis table not usable due to legs snapped ( we were accused by owners husband Marc ( who does not speak English ) of not erecting table correctly and causing table to break, i tried to explain we had not used the table.
Badminton net broken
Dish washer, when we firstly went to use it, it was flashing salt, ( no one had check it before we arrived ) not cleaning dishes clean enough,
Hot tub water level low, and only had small plastic steps and not secure and unsafe.
The large outside parasol over the fixed table had a split in one of the arms holding the cover, had been previously repaired, over the week the repair failed and the arm broke again, ( When husband marc arrived I showed him and I gave him a hand to repair )
There was another parasol available but the base was hidden behind the BBQ and very heavy to move.
The Photo's shown on trip advisor are showing the outside area of the villa are old photos's, They look better than what actually you get, the pool cover is hanging and falling apart, The outside seating with back cover is falling apart and needs repairs, the 2 x benches with the long table under the outside canopy need attention nails keep coming loose and sticking in your body ( need screws ). I did knock the nails back in a few times. The doors on the BBQ area are falling off.
Mary Lou is a good size villa with many leisure facilities. It is well maintained and very clean.
The views are amazing and it is nice and isolated to enjoy privacy while on holiday.
The photos do not reflect how amazing this place is.
Marc and Sarah are wonderful hosts. They made sure we had everything we needed, and made it easy to find by meeting up in a simple location, then escorting us up the mountain to the villa.
I normally look forward to coming home after a holiday, but on this occasion I could have stayed longer.
Thank you Marc and Sarah, we would love to return again soon.
We loved this place (family of four with 2 boys aged 9 & 7) and it was the perfect Easter escape from London. Sarah and Marc were exceptional hosts and arranged to meet us and show us the way to the villa as it is on a secluded and private mountainside with beautiful views (easy to reach from Malaga airport).
We found and booked Marie-Lou villa the night before leaving home and Sarah couldn't have been more helpful in preparing the villa at short notice. Very clean and plenty of room. The welcome drinks and snacks were very much appreciated.
The location is perfect as there was room form the kids to run around, explore and make lots of noise. The pool was warm enough to dip in and out of even in early April and to have the hot tub was perfect. There is lots to do here- loads of games/DVD's along with pool table, table tennis, badminton, petanque etc. But also easy to get to the supermarket and beach (car rental essential).
We opted to spent 3 of the 4 days at the villa with a trip to Nerja on the other day. Overall it suited us perfectly and was a perfect antidote to city life. Highly recommended- planning a return visit already!!
The villa is fantastic, surpassing all our expectations. Sarah is excellent at being in communication before you arrive and also while you are there to answer any questions and help make the stay so relaxed. Also Marc her husband was so helpful and we hugely appreciated him directing us to the villa late at night when we arrived. (it was near impossible to find without him)
Thank you so much Sarah and Marc for letting us stay; we will be more than happy to go back again!
