We are currently staying at this hotel. The weather is beautiful, the island is the prettiest we’ve ever seen, well worth a visit. We have been given the most amazing view in our room. However, there are a few downsides to our trip, including that the food has not been up to a good enough standard for a four star hotel, hardly any variety, the staff seem not very friendly and don’t really speak much English at all. The shower in our room goes from freezing cold to scalding hot which is not very pleasant at all. Overall, you can’t complain about the great location of this hotel but it is partially ruined by the poor qualities that have been pointed out.

We were on half board and were very pleased with the choice of food, there was always something which was to our liking.
We were on the 4th floor overlooking the pool, room o.k. but not one of the refurbished ones. Bed very comfortable and pleased there were 2 chairs as in some hotels there is only 1.
the only gripe we had was the noisy neighbours who were talking on their balcony until the early hours of the morning.

We went for a week half board. Check in slow and we were allocated a room on second floor overlooking the pool and sea. Room very dated. Two twin beds pushed together. Bathroom needed updating. Beds comfy. No tea making facilities which for a 4 star hotel is not good. No stocked mini bar although there was a fridge. Breakfast was good with all the usual including cava. Slow to clear tables. We were half board and opted for lunch instead of dinner. Lunch and dinner were much the same with not much choice. No drinks included with half board lunch or dinner. Again slow to clear tables. Pool area nice though pools deep. Plenty of sun beds. Weather sunny with clouds but got a nice tan. Not too many restaurants outside but taxi to next town only 7 euros. Any drinks were charged to your room and you pay at check out. Keep hold of receipts as hotel overcharged for our drinks and charged for lunch when we had lunch instead of dinner. All in all a nice holiday for the money but spoilt by the hotel overcharging.

We chose this hotel as we wanted to be within easy reach of the airport and the capital city.
It's a fantastic place to stay, our room was clean and comfortable. We did upgrade to a suite as it was only an extra £20 over the 6 nights we stayed through booking.com. We found the reception staff to be very helpful- the car park was full when we arrived and we weren't sure where we could park so they happily pointed where we could and it was free. Nothing seemed too much trouble and despite the hotel being very busy every member of staff we came across was friendly and smiling.
Because we were in a suite we had a fridge that we could use to store food and drink which was helpful for lunches (there is a Spar a very short walk away from the hotel and another supermarket further down the road) We also had a balcony with great views.
The resort Los Cancajos is small and quiet but that was fine for us you don't really come to La Palma for the nightlife! The hotel did provide entertainment if you're into that kind of thing. We found plenty of restaurants to eat at serving a good variety of food- we were only bed and breakfast at the hotel so I can't comment on the dinners there. Breakfast was amazing- so much choice- fresh fruit, pastries and breads, juices, cereals, cooked breakfast buffet selection, freshly cooked omelettes and also pancakes and smoothies. All constantly being refreshed by the staff. As the hotel was full towards the end of the breakfast period it did feel a bit manic but there was plenty of space and food to go around.
You can hear and see planes going over head at various points throughout the day but I wouldn't say it disturbed us- but then living in south east london means we're used to noise!
One of the only downsides was that it was too windy for us to go in the pools- this was just a personal preference as many other people went in! The pool areas were very well kept and clean though and we did use the loungers etc- again plenty available despite the hotel being full.
We rarely go back to the same location when travelling abroad as there is so much of the world to see but if we did ever end up going back to La Palma we would stay here again and should any of our friends or family want to visit the island we would recommend this hotel to them.

Room Tip: We were in the newly refurbished part of the hotel and in a suite which meant we had loads of room.

I am her at the moment and enjoying my stay. The hotel is friendly the staff at reception are excellent. The pool area is very good with fresh towels provided everyday. Our is nice but it is not one of the newly renovated ones which I believe are very nice. We are half board and you can change your evening meal for lunch if you want which is handy. The food is average but the breakfast is better. Overall we would recommend this hotel as we are having a very relaxing break.
