Super stylish and hip hotel, with a lovely sunny courtyard perfect for taking a break from a long morning or afternoon of sight-seeing. The rooms were spacious and featured shabby chic decor with a bit of local charm. We loved the location, right in the middle of the French Quarter, which made it easy to reach great restaurants and sight-seeing spots. Only complaint was the pub across the street which was quite loud at night.

The thing that makes this place stand out is the exquisite lighting (picture below). Plus Great staff and great food really make this place luxury. Only comment is that there is no wifi in the rooms and you have to go sit outside to get minimal signal. Tea making facilities in rooms would be good as well. However decor and ambience made our stay outstanding.

When we got double booked at our initial place of stay at Pondicherry the management shifted us to Villa Helena. Despite our initial misgivings basis some recent Tripadvisor reviews we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this gorgeous 150+ year old property. It is extremely spacious and well laid out with plenty of breakout spaces having beautiful old furniture pieces where one can lounge and while away time. The staff is efficient, thoroughly non intrusive and almost blends into the background giving one a feeling that one is in his/ her own place. Helena's food menu has a well selected mix of continental dishes but is relatively limited. So we ended up exploring the many nearby eating joints (Tip: Reserve your place in advance, Pondicherry can get crowded in long weekends!). For anyone looking for a typical hotel type stay with room service, elaborate food menu etc this is not the place but it is absolutely suitable for someone looking for a delightful bread and breakfast experience with an option of having a restaurant at hand. The management should consider putting in power back-up since a spell of heavy rain during our stay knocked off power during the night for which I have docked a star.

Villa Helena is a 200 year old mansion converted into the most charming hotel. It is set in a magical courtyard full of cool lush greenery and sparkling lights hanging from the trees at night . The restaurant is a great choice whether you are dining in or enjoying a drink and you can be any age, a solo traveller or a group and the service will be the same from the friendly staff.

Would be You in your Villa ! The ambience, the service, the food and the value for money is for real.
A must experience place.
Pondicherry itself takes you back to a Colonial era and an evening at the Villa Helena sure puts an essence to this feel.
