The location is central, the colonial house and its lobby are stylish. We got a room on the ground floor on the side of the street that had no daylight. We could not get another room because the hotel was sold out. This was simply not true.
The bathroom was basic, the washbassin did not run. The young man at the reception was very kind and helpful and did his best. The hotel is clearly understaffed!
We had booked DUNE MANSION because we were told that the price included a provision for our driver. The hotel does not forsee anything! The driver was told to sleep in his car in the street (there is no parking facility). We asked to talk to the person running the place and were told the owner is French and could not to be reached. We got the manager on the phone who told us he couldn't do anything to change the situation.
In the future we will avoid that place. There are many other nice hotels in Pondicherry

Set inside the heritage town of Pondicherry, this small boutique property is well kept and well appointed.

Don't get confused as we did. Its a part of the heritage town not the french quarters or the white town.

Rooms are well appointed, but be aware of all of them being extremely noisy and if that disturbs you at night- its an all night experience. So avoid if u are a light sleeper.

Staff is very nice

Stayed here for one night as part of a tour group. We had a king room on the top floor. Wi-Fi was barely functional. The room was dark, and had no real windows, only a stained-glass window above the door.

Because the room was dark, I didn’t notice the mold around the sink and the funky green bathtub. After taking a shower and scrubbing my feet, I noticed my feet were filthy after walking around the room barefoot for five minutes. The floor was really dirty. Basically, this place can use a really good cleaning, or better yet, a remodel/update.

On an up note, there is charming architecture, wonderful location, and the restaurant had really delicious food. However, at this point, I can not recommend this hotel.

A great place to stay in the heart of Pondy's heritage district. Very well maintained.
It is better to book this place through a discount site like Make my trip because otherwise the tariff can be very high! and there lies the downside. The published tariff is way to high for this property considering the amenities are sparse and just above basic. The management must consider revising the tariff or adding other services as part of the package. For Example there is no room service.
