The resort of friendly, unkept promises.

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 3 Jul 2024via mobile
A newer resort on right on the ocean. The beach is small and the water is almost unswimable due to rock formations.
We had some type of construction going on next to our room during the daytime. Metal cutting and hammering for the good part 3 days. Numerous complaints to management did nothing! The offered us a massage for our 3 ruined days. We also had a loud neighbor waking us up because they felt the need to have their screaming child swim in the middle of the night. The walls appear to be thin and you can hear a lot from next door and above you. Make sure you request A LOT of bottled water because you’ll need it if you don’t plan on drinking the questionable Mexican tap water. They also don’t serve bottled water in any of their restaurants. You can bring it in on your own. The restaurants are the best part of this resort. The food and wait staff are very good.
If you notice the comments from the management on other reviews, they all almost the same, acknowledging the problems and not doing anything about it. That’s what they do when you are there also. They just “yes” you nicely but the problems do not get solved.
I don’t recommend this resort. For the money one of the worst resorts I’ve been to.

Room Tip: Be careful of taxi prices. They’ll over charge you if you’re not careful.

Thank you for upgrading our room!!! It was much appreciated due to the storms during the first few days. We had a family connecting suite on the 4th floor
We had excellent service from our butlers, Luna, Imelda, and Ana. They worked very hard for our family and made it a smooth and hassle free trip! No request was too small, we asked a lot of them from putting in room service orders to helping us get in touch with the hotel manager. They shuttled us around and helped with any last minute changes esp on one night were we were scattered to the wind with three different reservations. Can't say enough and I hope they are recognized.
Kevin with EX/Concierge helped us understand our Ruby benefits and we were able to maximize our stay (~ 4 hours at the SPA!).
The dining was good, we feel that the overall quality of sushi was improved. We went to Kampai 2x, The first time the spicy tuna roll was good, the second time for dinner the tuna was smothered in sriacha and not as good and couldn't taste the tuna through it.
We took advantage of the More Inclusive ~ day trip to Maroma. The catamaran tour was great, we felt safe and the snorkeling area was not overcrowded. The food at the beach house was delicious. We had the pizza there and I think the pizza by the main pool at El Dorado Royale needs the crust recipe. The desserts were also good, they were still crunchy and the pistachio cream was delicious.
Also part of More Inclusive, the Aqua Nick water park was very pretty and well kept, it also wasn't overcrowded. we liked the variety of activities and the two lazy rivers
The gala dinner was very nice. It was nice to have a food display for any picky eaters. We really enjoyed the entertainment and the pavlova dessert was one of the best at the gala dinner.

The main negative which was not really under the control of the hotel, but the guests next door smoked in their room for most of our week long stay. It permeated the foyer between rooms and made its way into our main living space making it unusable for the last 2 days. Housekeeping cleaned our room with our main door open allowing it to expose our room even more. Would have preferred they shut the outside door in the future. We did bring this to the attn of the resort, but they were unable to resolve the issue while we were there.

One place for improvement would be the quality of shampoo/conditioner in the room. It was not good compared to previous visits and the conditioner was way too thin and didn't soften our hair (even with the local hard water)
We also have a favorite Indian dish called Murgh Malai, it is a delicious marinated grilled chicken dish. I think it'd perform well on the menu at Haab
Also hats off to Soraya at the exotic office. She is someone we would want to visit again should we go through the member update again.

We had a wonderful stay at the Generations resort hotel. We traveled with a one year old for the first time out of the US and all went well considering a couple challenges with our baby having bug bites and developing bad diaper rash coming in from Dallas. The staff was absolutely super and accommodating in every way! The room was outfitted with a crib for us as requested prior to our stay.

When we checked in they gave us a card to check off any other baby amenities we wanted for the room, like a changing table, baby bath tub, stroller, sanitizer and etc. That was very nice and considerate for those seeking a much needed vacation with your child. Everything checked was brought to the room immediately. Our 20 mo. old child slept great in the partitioned living room section with the crib provided. Even though our room was on the 2nd level (a infinity swim up room), it was not too loud to nap during the middle of the day. We enjoyed the big room and personal swim up space immensely. We had a great view of the sea, pool and palms right in front of us. You can also hear the waves at all times but not pool noise as much, which was perfect. The room was quite spacious with two tables and lots of space for storage of luggage and personal clothing and toiletries. I very much liked the robes and shoes provided.

We come to Mexico at least once a year and we like to visit different resorts and are not members of the hotel clubs. Still the concierges and staff never made us feel less than a member at any point. We even had our room cleaned and were given turn down service, even with the baby nightly. They were all gracious and helped us with anything and everything we needed whenever we visited their lounge or spoke to butlers running around. This was very much appreciated! The staff even went around the resort so we could get items for our baby who had bad diaper rash, including baking soda for the baby bath and intensive diaper cream. They were always extra sweet to us and researched down anything we were even curious about.

All of the concierges were very nice but our go to guy was, LUIS!! He was a 5 star employee all the way! The resort needs to do what it can to keep him. He was soo friendly and would walk us to wherever we needed to go, greet our son all the time and picked him up and acted like our boy was his. He went above and beyond and made us feel comfortable asking him for help with everything! He never seemed frustrated with us or tired of us either over the 7 days we were at the resort!

The food was really good and pretty gourmet. We never went hungry. I know some Americans like giant portions of food and don't like petite portions, but when traveling in Mexico at all inclusive restaurants the portions are sometimes a little smaller because you can order 4-5 courses (appetizers, soup/salad, entree, and desserts). If every portion is large and you don't like something there is a lot of waste and who wants to see food wasted? You can always order more of anything you like as well. We also loved the selection at the buffet for breakfast and one day we saw a lady making homemade blue corn tortillas and quesadillas. We also loved Palms for lunch or breakfast right overlooking the beach and pier, it was breezy and had a beautiful view, great servers and food.

Our 1 year old loved going to the kid's club, which is set up more for kids that are 1 - 8 years old. (Perfect for us for the next several years!). We hired a babysitter as well for a night so we could go over to the adult side for dinner and that went well! We never felt worried at all. The staff at the kids club were so polite and great! We also liked that the big pool had side pool areas that were shallow for little tikes to play and the kiddie pool and kiddie sun loungers were too cute!

I went to the spa at Casitas and had a great massage outside on a pier at the beach! I highly recommend this as I did not feel hot or uncomfortable there at all. It was great hearing the waves during my massage. After I hung out at the hydrotherapy, steam rooms and small pool area for a couple hours! That was a nice retreat while the hubby took care of our son doing other things.

2 minor things I think that would make this place even more 5 star would be:

1. Having someone playing guitar or sax at some of the restaurants or buffet in the am and at dinner. Live music by the ceviche bar at the pool for an hour or two during the day would make that area more busy I am sure!

2. Loved room service but being able to order a couple cocktails with room service besides just beer would be awesome since there really isn't a way to get cocktails at your swim up room without going down to the pool area.

We have stayed at a couple newer more modern adult only resorts before, but the care, and hospitality of the staff here at Generations is not paralleled. Must be a Lomas property thing. We highly recommend this resort for singles, families, and those with small children alike.

Room tip: Couldn't hear much pool noise from floor 2 swim up rooms. Swim up rooms were lovely to have your own private pool away from the busy pool.

Here for a wedding but if I could leave, I would left after the first night. I have stayed at several resorts in Mexico and this had to be worst hotel I have stayed in.
1. The AC wasn’t working in our room and we were literally sweating. after 18 hours of back and forth and calling them we finally get a new room. The new room has the tub that is clearly dirty and unclean. Not that I ever use them but it was gross. There is also sign next to the tub - use at your own risk with bunch of instructions. But o have to suck it up at this point.
2. No one answers the front desk phone. Doesn’t matter the time. Maybe one out of 5 or 6times. If you are lucky. And when they answer, the task is rarely completed
3. Staff are far from courteous. Bellboy literally shut the elevator on us even though we were all going down. The elevator was empty.
4. Food is DISGUSTING. I get better tacos and quesadillas from a random street cart in NY. Never thought I would say worst taco or fajitas I have had are unfortunately here. At this resort In Mexico. Guacamole has been spoiled more than once in two days here so far. Two people with diarrhea.
5. Walls abs ceilings are paper thin. You can literally hear ppl walking, closing doors but we are lucky to have ppl partying above us. At 1am, we have two young kids.
6. I am convinced all the teciews naming butters and concierge are FAKE bc you can barely get a hold of anyone. And no you are not offered a personal concierge at check in.
7. I am not sure how this is a luxury resort. It’s 2 stars at best.
Please please save your money and go elsewhere. There are so many options.

Just returned from a week in Paradise! We traveled with over 90 people to celebrate my son's wedding. The rooms were beautiful, clean and HUGE! Staff was so accommodating!!! Special shout out to Isabel and Diego at Concierge, Arturo the food service manager, Martin, the bar manager and Gloria the wedding coordinator. The girls at the spa did an amazing job on hair and make-up for the wedding!!!The beach area was small and not really swimable because of the seaweed, but that is to be expected at this time of year. The pool area was perfect! Plenty of chairs, luxurious towels and great bar service! We would have enjoyed a casual dining selection at the pool area. There is a grill area by the pool, but it is only used on Thursday, Friday and Saturday where ceviche is served. Although it was delicious, a burger or grilled chicken or salads would have been a great idea! The only lunch options are sit down, so we needed to leave the pool area, dry off and get dressed to get a quick bite. Dinner options are very limited at Generations. It is wonderful to be able to go to Casitas or El Dorado for dinner, but if there are young children in the group, that isn't an option.

We were so excited to see her again and can’t wait for our next visit. Carlos, Enrique, Alvis and Juan were amazing wait staff at the various restaurants we frequented and always provided exceptional service with a smile.
