“Expected so much more, we won't be back”

The massage was great but for the price my husband & I were so underwhelmed with the entire experience. We planned to spend extra time enjoying the facilities which turned out to be an indoor pool where we had to watch other people having treatments in a room with a floor to ceiling glass wall overlooking the pool. My husband was given a locker with no robe, towel or slippers. I won't be back, so much better & cheaper available on the Gold Coast.

Given the marketing associated with the spa and its two locations (the Prince in St Kilda, in addition to the Palazzo Versace) I thought this was going to be something special.

Regrettably not to be.

Contrary to the advertising paraphernalia, they don't offer their "signature steam room treatment", so I had to make do with a somewhat pedestrian ($170, 60 minutes) facial - both in terms of half-hearted technique and product - which was cut short by 10 minutes for some reason. The products used – which I acknowledge are generally inefficacious pseudo-scientific gunk – weren’t even particularly pleasant from a sensory perspective.

The (communal!) change rooms were a bit grotty with mould making a notable appearance on the ceilings, the robes were shabby and some of the Aurora products in the shower cubicle were watered down. Sorry, just nasty.

The price point is comparable to some of the top spas in the Asia Pacific (i.e. Como Shambhala and Karma Spa), but fell well short in all other respects. Staff were, however, pleasant.

This spa, given its basement location and set up, it would be far better repurposed as a hammam style spa.

The Aurora Spa is luxurious. The massage therapists are of a high standard. I encourage you to arrive early and have a swim or enjoy the steam room or sauna. Tranquility is throughout. After you Treatment you can sit and relax with a cup of herbal tea and read one of their inspirational books. This may be a little more expensive than some other Spa's however, I believe they offer more and it is good value for money.

Visited the spa on my stay at the hotel palazzo Versace.

The service from the ladies were lovely and they did an amazing job.

I wasn't rushed at all and felt very relaxed.
