This is one of the most interesting wine tastings we have had for some time. Dennis, the server, was keen to have us taste wine without showing us the label on the bottle and challenged us to carefully think about what we were tasting. We got to taste some wines that were different to the regular wines in the supermarket. I would recommend the new Soul range as well as their Equinox, many of which are oaked. Wonderful wines!!
We followed this with lunch in the sunshine.
We bought two shared plates, a pork belly and pita, and a cold smoked salmon with horseradish and pickled red cabbage. Both were a good serving and wonderfully balanced and tasty. A great place for a leisurely sunny afternoon. Would go back.

Popped in to enjoy the wine tasting. We were treated rudely and laughed at on one occasion when remarking about the wine. The wine itself was enjoyable however the snooty atmosphere left a sour taste. I don’t think this is a reflection of the premises but rather the woman who served us.

A quaint little cellar door right on the main highway. During our recent visit to Christchurch we encountered one particularly wet day so we thought we would venture North for a drive and drop in to a few vineyards.
This was our first stop and we were very impressed by the ambiance of the place. The lady at the tasting counter was a little different but warmed to us eventually and after a subdued start did become quite friendly.
We had a quick look at the lunch menu and decided to stay for lunch
It was a good decision. Service was good. We had a nice table that had a good view especially of the rain rolling in and we settled on a couple of platters which were delicious particularly when paired with some nice Chardonnay
We never got to another vineyard such was the enjoyment we got here
Definitely worth a visit

After a disappointing start we had lovely meal in cafe , the service & food beautiful as well as setting , shame about old lady doing tastings needs to retire totally uninterested in promoting wines , area or even selling us any wine not that she even asked i generally always buy after tastings , after waiting to start the tasting we experienced the worst wine tasting ever, big call but working in vineyards in past i was disappointed with her lack of interest & enthusiasm towards the lovely wines, should've just left wine out for us to taste ourselves no info about wine other than pick what you want of tasting sheet real shame as rest of experience was lovely & relaxing cafe staff very friendly & helpful

Disappointed with the wine tasting woman, she barely acknowledged us and when she served us was totally disinterested with no enthusiasm or imparting of wine knowledge as is generally the case when wine tasting.
Luckily the cafe made it worth the trip from Christchurch wonderful meal and lovely friendly staff a real contrast to the wine celler.
