If I could give it a zero I would. We arrived on a Saturday night and it was deserted...no customers and more importantly no staff. We eventually knocked on the kitchen door and a man came out but it was to tell us the manager had gone out and he was not a member of staff.
A few minutes later a staff member came out and gave us a menu. We gave our drinks order and were told they do not have their licence yet. He suggested we go to the pub over the road and they would half cook the meal and finish it off when we came back.
We declined and left

We visited recently with a group of friends and had the meal booked for 7.30. We arrived on time but our food orders weren't taken for another 30 minutes. When the meals arrived a staggering hour and a quarter later we thought the wait would be worth it. It wasn't. The general consensus from the group was that the food was very average and the service poor.
One diner from our group had to choose again from the menu because there were only 4 lamb knuckles available and when all meals were finally out on the table , one of our group was asked what her order was again because chef had plated all orders up. Whether this was a joke or not, it wasn't appreciated.
No dessert menu was mentioned and no-one was interested in teas or coffee.
We won't be back.

We were the only ones on a Saturday early evening, and were greeted warmly by the bar manager. Ordered a Monteiths Pilsner straight away for the two of us and chose the table in the window by the door.
Blues playing in the background added to the atmosphere.
We ordered the full rack of ribs, and the ribeye with mushroom sauce, mash and slaw. The steak was cooked perfectly medium for me and came out with a lovely sauce. The plating was a bit different (all in separate serving dishes), but perfectly fine.
The rack on my partner's plate was just that - a full rack smothered in sauce. The meat just fell off the bones. A very generous serving indeed.
We were offered desserts, but honestly couldn't fit any in!
Certainly a good eating option in Temuka.

Had the best chicken schnitzel ever here. It was huge, perfectly cooked and had mine with mushroom sauce. Choose the chocolate brownie for dessert even though I had no room, but who can resist chocolate? Simply delish!!!

Great restaurant in Temuka. Always love their Pork Belly. And everything is always delicious and plenty of it. However, please expect a wait. One time visiting this restaurant we were the only ones there and food took 40 minutes to come out - certainly testing our patience. I know they do takeaways but nobody have even come in to pick any takeaways up so don't think that was what was keeping them busy in the kitchen. Every time we have been we have had to wait about 30+ minutes (for two meals). But clearly, the meals are worth the wait (just don't go there absolutely starving as someone may become very hangry!)

Menu changes often too - but usually by removing things and not replacing them. Very limited menu now.
