When we called to reserve two rooms, the host didn't ask for a credit card number or many confirming details, for that matter. On the evening of our reservation, we called at 7pm to cancel (due to difficult issues with travel and weather), and we were treated extremely rudely, even when we offered to pay full price for the rooms. They took our credit card information over the phone, and we asked them to send us a receipt by email. They charged us for the rooms and sent the receipt with a nasty note attached! We paid for our rooms voluntarily because it was the morally correct thing to do, and they treated us with such shame and complete lack of compassion.

Firstly let me say that you must have looked at our website before you booked with us you must have seen our cancellation policy .

Had you cancelled within the required time there wouldn't be an issue but you called at 7pm as you said and that would give us no time to resell those two rooms .You said you were in LakeTekapo which is just over and hours drive from here and the weather was raining but still passable as there was no snow. We offered to wait up until you arrived and welcome you.

As for the rude note all we said was "that if the cancellation was earlier we could have filled the room easily" this unfortunately is one of the busiest weeks of the year due to the Rowing Championships in Twizel so as I said we could have filled the rooms easily.
I don't believe this to be a rude statement. Nevertheless I do hope you have enjoyed your visit to New Zealand and if you wish to book with us again in the future we will offer you free accommodation.please check out our other reviews and you will see that we have fared very well.     Better than home

    Linda and Kieran are the most amazing hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. Their home is comfortable and very relaxing, lovely en suite rooms, air conditioning in main areas and great outdoor areas as well. All their years in hospitality and restaurants show through with the ease in which they welcome people and turn out such tasty food as well - if they offer to cook you an evening meal take up the offer. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay.

    Simply perfect

    Great stay. Family group of 5 adults. Perfect host. We had run of the house lounge, kitchen, deck and more.
    Great breakfast.
    Garage for bikes.
    Great pub down the road
    Helpful hosts.
    Couldn't have asked for more
    We stayed at 5 different places on the A2O trail this was the best
    We will be back!

    Cosy, friendly stay.

    Very friendly hosts who make you feel very welcome. We did our washing in their machine. Breakfasts are lovely,
    with home made preserves, and well cooked - with eggs from their own hens. A lovely, comfortable stay.

    A nice place with a good atmosphere

    Riverside B&B is the perfect place if you are traveling around New Zealand
    Kieran and Lynn are very helpful and they suggested me a wonderful way to drive to Lake Tekapo !
    Is well located in the center of Kurow
    Hope to go back !

    Wonderful place very charming

    Everything was wonderful at this place. The food, the rooms, the garden and the area where the hotel is located. The food was excellent and the hosts make you feel welcome. I highly recommend Riverside B&B
