We just stopped in for a takeaway coffee on the way through, but when I saw the cheese and onion scones, I had to try one of those too (shared it as was big!). The menu looked good and at another time we would have stopped for food. The coffee was great and the caramel toffee that came with it a welcome surprise (I don't have a particular sweet tooth, but it hit the spot). The scone was great, crunchy outside and soft inside and the staff a pleasure to deal with. We didn't stay long or eat in, but the place had some neat quirky decor and kept me entertained looking around while I waited on the coffee. I can definitely see why the ratings are good with The Running Duck and can certainly recommend stopping in if you are in the area.

We Visited here Whilst on Holiday In our Bus Motorhome,Geraldine is a Cute Funky Town,As is the Running Duck Cafe,As you enter the Outside has a huge Map of New Zealand Made of Jandals,And an Arrow pointing you are Here,The Staff super Friendly and Helpful,The whole Ambience of the place is Fabulously Quirky,From the Enamel plates,The 60s Music,And Quirky Things on the walls,The Food Delicious,And the Coffee Hot and strong,Thanks Running Duck,We will be Back for sure❤️👍

Will keep supporting them but the service was not friendly, the shakes came out when my husband had finished & I was halfway through my meal , hubby & I went out for lunch together as a treat but he had finished his burger before mine even came out!! It wasn't busy so no excuse really

We liked the tasty fried chicken, fresh halloumi salad and great Underground Roasters coffee. Service could have been more on point but it's a cool place to stop and the town is nice too. The 1950s decor is fun and there's a chest of toys, coloring books and space for kids to play.

Everything about this place is disappointing. From the food to the service. Paying $19 for a burger that has a bun, $5 bag of coleslaw, chicken and 2 pieces of bacon? I dont think so. No sauce, no tomatoes, no lettuce or even cheese! Not to mention the Aioli that tastes like it has been watered down. So much potential, but alas i am extremely disappointed. Everything is dirty. It is not hard for staff to wipe down surfaces instead of idly chatting to each other. Be better.
