Limited choice of hot snacks. I got two crumbed chicken fillets, the fact that I had to ask what they were should have warned me. $9 for two very small pieces which is OK if they're nice. The crumbs weren't crispy ..they were hard lumps of some tasteless, dry 'stuff". The chicken was OK, but 75% of it went out of the window two minutes down the road. My friends chips were lukewarm despite asking if they were fresh. Awful experience. DO BETTER!!

A lot more than tea here. The coffee is made by a duo of skilled baristas who get the drinks out fast and perfect. Also hot pies from a nearby bakery and plenty of ready made sweet and savoury ready made options in the display cases

Absolutely terrible service. Ordered panini and icecream in cone. Panini arrived and I was then told to wait at the icecream cabinet and someone would serve me. I stood there for 10 minutes and was totally ignored! I then asked the lady that was cleaning the bench if someone was going to serve me. Reply: I didn’t know you were waiting. 3 staff all saw me standing there. Felt like they were all fighting over who does what?? Very cold atmosphere.

Great food and service to our table outside. Not only were the staff very pleasant , they are also trustworthy and reliable. I unfortunately left my wallet behind and being in transit to Masterton, the staff went the extra mile and made sure it was courier posted back to my home. Thankyou Cheviot Tea rooms

Stopped here en route for Kaikoura for a quick cuppa. Sat outside in the sunshine. Can’t comment on the food although it looked good. Busy, which says it all!
