There is not much accommodation in Arthur's Pass, so we were lucky to get a room. As a couple we got a room in a 'cottage' which had 3 other rooms. There is a wood heater and well equipped kitchen. (Bring your own food - local store is very small!) Lots of hot water. As there was only 1 other couple it felt like we had a house to ourselves.
By staying overnight we could do longer walks - Bealey's Spur was great (2 hours up, good walking shoes help as some mud and tree roots, 1.5 hrs down) Fantastic view of mountains and 2 river valleys.

Just stayed the 1 night here in the dorm. The bunks were made of wood, so didn't make noise like the metal ones. Room was warm and bed comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need and was large. Upstairs you can relax on the couch or outside facing the mountains. Bathrooms were clean. I think there was only 1 power point in the room, so I had to charge my phone in the hallway which was abit annoying but other than that it was a great stay. You have to pay for wifi, but if you have a NZ number you can hook up to the free spark wifi across the road. Would stay here again

I arrived very late after driving from Christchurch, and the key to my Private Room (which was part of a lovely old house with shared kitchen, living and bathroom facilities) was waiting at the hostel office. A map had been left so it was easy to find, and my room was immaculate; spacious and warm. The shared facilities were clean and tidy. I wouldn't hesitate to book again.

My husband and I stayed here for one night in a Private Double Cabin, sharing a kitchen, living space, and bathroom with three other rooms. The place is very remote, but there is a place to eat very close in town. Need to pay for wifi passes, but it works well. Would stay again if in the area!

This was a surprise. first visit to a Youth Hostel. What a revelation. We had a little cottage on the high Street - fully self contained and spotlessly clean. The cottage, named South, had an electric heater and an electric blanket plus a heated towel rail. We needed it, despite it being March. It is situated right in the middle of this tiny village so all the walks start within a few meters. A great place to stay. Tip. If making a booking for 2 adults, and you want an en suite room, ask for cottage North or South. You will not be disappointed.
