Fabulous Destination!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 14 Jul 2020
Absolutely loved our entire visit to the Bealey Hotel, right from the time our gracious host collected us from the train stop. Our first step into the welcoming restaurant/bar area heated by a cosy fire was just the beginning of wonderful things to come. The delicious meal served to us in the midst of a stampede of people arriving for dinner unexpectedly was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was made extra special due to the fabulous music playing quietly in the background. Our accommodation was spectacular as were the views of the mountains and river from our windows. Kirsty and Matty are a friendly, generous, down to earth couple who made our stay in Arthur's Pass extra special. I can not wait to come back to this majestic place and share our journey with these lovely people again. Thank you so much and Happy Anniversary!

Gorgeous scenery, great staff who are welcoming and the parks up top are spacious.

To checkin there weren't greatly defined directions, you need to enter the main building and go up to the bar resturant facility area.

I love how family orientated this place is, with board games to keep the kids occupied.

The studio room was lovely and cozy, with a heatpump, and excellent tv setup with ready to use netflix, lightbox etc the refurbished rooms are like to be expected in a 4 star hotel, small but clean, modern and comfortable.

I love the fairtrade teas and hot chocolate, and the lush bathroom products.

The meals were delicious, abit on the expensive side for what they were, but tasty all the same..and expected for in the middle of nowhere, and a touristy location.

The studio room had a magical view, and the bed was to die for!

A little noisy, could hear the footsteps from next door, but overall a wonderful stay!

Excellent stay at The Bealey! Spent one night in a villa with a lovely view. Modern and clean space, recently refurbished. Very comfortable bed, super shower, Netflix and free wifi. Had evening meal in the restaurant/bar which was great (vegan) and had breakfast the following morning. Great value for money & will definitely stay again!

Called in for a meal and drinks 20/06/2020. Great atmosphere and views. Meals were excellent size and well cooked. Good variety of winter drinks mulled wine etc, plus good choice of beers etc. Our grandaugther reckons Maddie makes the best ice cream sunday shes had. Called in Sunday for morning coffee etc great muffins.
Main thing for our group was value for money, if staying in Arthurs Pass like we were well worth the drive.

Just reopened for three months under new ownership and totally renovated cabins, this hotel was a highlight of my visit to New Zealand South Island. The rooms are not large but adequate but the detailing has been done thoughtfully. There is a nightlight on the bathroom mirror, discrete but good for those middle of the night visits. Kitchen facilities were good and the bed was very comfortable. The view from the window was stunning looking up the valley and very peaceful. I drove through the village of Arthur’s Pass on the way to the hotel and I had to pity all those tourist that paid heaps more than me to stay in the crowded village.
The bistro food was delicious. I had the venison and a devilish chocolate concoction for dessert with a draft rhubarb cider to drink. Nothing on the menu in AP came close to this quality. If you are going to stray at AP do yourself a favour and consider the Bealey.
