We stayed in a great room with an amazing view. The historic pub was great and so was the food! They had a table full of books to read about NZ history, true stories about farmers and their dogs, flora and fauna, funny cartoons, and travel guides. We stayed there for a long time reading those, they're all fantastic. There was no service for mobile phones but that's what made it such a great night, thank you!

Hi, We are a little bit confused by this review. It appears you may have stayed elsewhere rather than the Arthur's Pass Alpine Motel. We do have mobile coverage here in Arthur's Pass and hopefully that may be extended further afield in the future. Glad you enjoyed your stay wherever that actually was.
Thanks, Pete and Fi

We booked a one-bedroom cabin, plus double bed in the living area, for one night, on our way from Christchurch airport to Fox Glacier.

The cabin was basic but good and everything worked well and was fully supplied with kitchen equipment and cutlery etc (it only lacked microwave dishes). The check-in/out was friendly and fast. It was a cold night, but the cabin was very warm.

Based on our very good stay I would highly recommend it to anybody looking for a nice cabin to stay in at AP.

Thanks for taking the time to post a review on your recent stay with us. Glad you enjoyed your time on your one night stay. We can get some pretty cold nights but our double glazing and excellent heaters easily solve that issue. Hope to see you again sometime for a longer stay.
Thanks, Pete and Fi

Spent one night here with family and friends. Room was very comfortable. Fireplace made the place cost on a rainy night. Owners were a pleasure and helpful. Dining out options in the area were adequate but limited.

We had a room booked for 17th Sept 2016 but got caught up in the South Island earthquakes while overnighting in Bleheim. Our 'travel the upper South Island' by train plans were disrupted with all road & rail access impassable beyond Blenheim. I called Pete to cancel and he was extremely helpful, caring and compassionate. He checked how we were and despite no earthquake damage in Arthurs Pass, completely understood our predicament. Our booking was cancelled at no cost (unlike some others we had to cancel). We will definitely make it to Arthurs Pass Alpine Motel one day, if for no other reason than to meet the sensitive & kind proprietors. Thanks Pete & Fi for making a stressful time less so. Tony & Theresa.

Thanks for your lovely comments even though you didn't get to stay with us. The Coastal Express train that you planned to catch won't be running for quite some time going by the pictures we are seeing. The Tranzalpine train through Arthur's Pass was up and running again on the Tuesday, so we are very thankful to have no damage around the Arthur's Pass area. Having lived in Ch-ch through the majority of the quakes there, we know how stressful it can be. A word of warning, we found (from experience) any unexpected rattling in your home will have you jumpy and on edge for quite some time.
Hopefully we'll see you in Arthur's Pass in the future.
Thanks, Pete and Fi

Stayed here for one night while driving up to Franz Josef. Great place! Kitchen is well equipped. The fireplace warms the entire room well. Received warm and friendly greeting upon arriving. Even gave us information and tips about what to explore around arther's pass. Really enjoyed the stay.
