Lovely view from the apartment! Even in the middle of a storm hitting most of England we had good weather and clear views. We saw Calais!
Nice welcome + well decorated apartment. So handy that they provided an Amazon firestick as there was no television signal - we had brought our own anyway but only because we are used to self catering.
Nice local pub in the beautiful bay where the white cliffs can be seen - unfortunately they have turned green in most places in Dover!
Only suggestion to help the great new business would be better cleaning around furniture - such as the bedside cabinets and the radiator cover (which had to be moved to turn it on). The sofa was a little uncomfortable but everything was in good condition. Lovely welcome hamper too. Nice walks locally.
Highly recommend a short taxi to Hythe Seafood Restaurant in Dover - gorgeous food!
Kate was very responsive to all questions we had before we arrived. She was very flexible with our arrival and departure times, enabling us to make the most of the area. The actual flat is beautiful, modern, clean and chic. The kitchen is well stocked with essentials and the welcoming hamper offered a good variety of food and drink which meant that we didn't need to stress about snacks/ breakfast. The sauna was a great extra!
If you choose to stay in, the living room is very homely and the TV set up is great.
St Margaret's Bay is a beautiful area with good pubs and walks. We spent our time exploring the surrounding area. There is plenty to do for those of all ages who are able to walk.
Overal a wonderful and relaxing stay. I would definitely recommend to friends and family.
From the moment we arrived Kate made us feel very welcome. After a long drive from Edinburgh we arrived to a large welcome basket of goodies which included, milk, fresh fruit, bread, eggs and a local wine to try. The rest of the kitchen was also well stocked with tea, coffee and other condiments that you may want on a week long stay.
The apartment has a fresh, clean, modern and welcoming vibe to it with everything you could want or need for your stay.
We stayed for a week long getaway and enjoyed relaxing outside in the sunshine, lovely walks along the beach, in the hills and even swimming in the sea a few times.
The view from the apartment is stunning and it is very quite and very relaxing.
Being big foodies who live in Edinburgh city, we like to eat out a lot, however we found not a huge selection of places to eat out but we did find our local favourites that we would recommend: Namaste, indian restaurant - a short drive away and The Pines Garden tearooms a short walk down the hill for a lovely afternoon lunch. We had a few disappointing eating out experiences in St Margarets but thankfully these two lovely places saved our dining out experience and we opted to make full use of our apartment kitchen.
This location would not be ideal with someone who struggles with walking unless you are happy to drive most places, as the apartment is on the coast at the bottom of a very steep and windy hill however we loved the location and enjoyed the walking as did our dog.
You get pretty much no mobile signal which I also loved and as St Margarets is the closest to France we sometimes amusingly did get a french mobile signal - be aware of roaming. You will however find wifi in your apartment if you cannot bare to be cut off from technology.
Myself and my husband rarely go to places that we would return, purely because we like to see what else is on offer however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Calais view holiday let and would like to return again in the future.
