Super customer service!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 weeks agovia mobile
We stayed a night before a trip and overnight on Tiritiri Matangi. Even before we arrived we felt valued customers as we were call to confirm arrival details. Beautiful room (upgraded from our original booking), spotlessly clean room with many thoughtful touches that went the ‘extra mile’. Owner went out of their way to get us access to plug in our EV (ICE car parked in EV park ☹️). Owner’s also gave us ideas for morning walk and the wonder coffee cart at little Manly from 6am.
Date of stay: May 2024
Room Tip: Great Coffe on Little Manly beach from 6am!

We dropped in here after 30 hours of traveling. The lodge was exactly what we needed to get our feet on the ground and get tested up for our tour of NZ. The hosts were very welcoming and gracious. The rooms and amenities were excellent. The location is great. The beach is across the street. Stores and restaurants are 700 m away. Shakespeare Park is a short drive for an excellent hike. Thank you for your hospitality Sandy.

We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay at this lovely lodge. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful and our apartment was spotlessly clean, with a very comfortable bed and well appointed shower room. We ate locally at the nearby Italian restaurant, on the hosts’ recommendation, and it was also excellent. This is a 10 minute walk away and booking is essential. Limited local choice of restaurants on Monday nights. We had a freshly cooked and tasty breakfast delivered to our room each morning. That was a ‘first’ on our 7 week trip round New Zealand and a real treat.

A nice motel for when touring. We had a very spacious room which was spotlessly clean with good facilities, extremely comfortable bed and a nice bathroom.

We were warmly welcomed by the owner who was also very friendly whenever we saw her during our stay and was very informative about the area.

Located just over the road from Little Manly beach where we enjoyed seeing the sunrise at 7am which was glorious. Worth a visit also to Big Manly beach which is only a 20 minute walk and the Shakespear Country Park (10 min drive) has some great walks with fantastic views around the peninsula. Recommend a night walk to the waterfall where you’ll see gloworms!

Slight word of caution and the only downside for us was that the hotel is situated on a very busy main road and therefore quite noisy. We were woken each day around 5am by the constant flow of traffic. Obviously very difficult to address other than perhaps better soundproofed windows.

Our internet dropped out which we were told when leaving can be quite common and could be easily fixed had we raised it but wasn’t a big issue.

Generally we had a nice stay for a couple of nights en route to the far North.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We're delighted to hear that you found our motel comfortable, clean, and enjoyed the spaciousness of your room. It's also wonderful to know that you felt warmly welcomed.

Sunrise across the road at Little Manly beach is just stunning, and a wonderful way to start the day.

Regarding your feedback about the location, we appreciate your honesty. As we’re almost at the end of a peninsula we understand that this can lead to some noise from traffic, especially during peak hours. We apologise for the inconvenience you experienced with the internet dropping out. As mentioned on your departure, this is an easy 1-minute for us had we known.

It's great to hear that you were able to explore and enjoy the nearby beaches and Shakespear Open Sanctuary during your stay; and yes the night walk to the waterfall is just magical with glowworms!

      Warm wishes,
      Sandy & Glen

All the reviews that I read emphasised the brilliant service and I can only agree. Glen and Sandy have mastered the difficult art of not only being there, ready and willing to help when needed, but also allowing guests space to enjoy their stay. It's a difficult tightrope to walk but they do it perfectly. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, the location is great, the local Italian restaurant superb, and for a bird watcher like me, the nearby Shakespear regional park is a rare opportunity to see native New Zealand bush birds without having to take a boat ride. Highly recommended.

Room tip: Heavy traffic at rush hour, if possible, avoid trying to get there around 5-6 in the evening.
