“Fantastic villa with truly awesome views”

We have holidayed in Lanzarote many times and this is our favourite villa so far. It has awesome panoramic views as the villa is one of the highest in Nazaret. If you like a glass of wine in the evening watching the sunset then this is the place for you. The heated pool is gated so was safe for the young children in our group, whilst the games room, Wi-Fi, Netflix, UK TV kept the adults and teenagers happy. Clean spacious well equipped and most importantly for me - comfy beds. The villa contained good island info - we used some great restaurants and had a truly 'Spanish' holiday. Will definitely return.

Spent a week at Casa Vista del Mar in April 2017, regrettably just going home after a truly fantastic holiday. The villa could not be better situated to explore the island; nowhere is far yet the villa is private, not overlooked and is incredibly peaceful. It has the most spectacular panoramic views of mountains and sea, evenings were spent on the terrace watching incredible sunsets. The villa is well equipped with everything we needed, a real home from home. The beds are super comfortable with lovely cotton bedding, the owner has thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. Having access to free UK TV and Netflix was a excellent touch for when the children had gone to bed. We will definitely return!

“The joys of Lanzarote”

Five of us (three generations) stayed for a week in this beautiful villa. It was spotlessly clean on arrival and everything worked. We were blessed by sunshine and were out touring and hiking every day, returning for a swim in the super pool (it really was 28 degrees) and then dinner usually under the pergola, enjoying the stupendous views.
Nazaret is very well placed indeed for exploring the island and its famous volcanos and Manrique sites. It is a quiet place, far from the bling of the main seaside resorts. But you can reach them and their beaches in about 25 minutes if you wish.
Super modern kitchen and dining area, well equipped, but four wine glasses was only just enough for us.
We, the grandparents, used the room with two beds. There was lots of cupboard and shelf space but bedside tables would have been nice. The shower screen derailed too easily. One set of towels for the week was marginal.
There are 25 steps up to the front door from the car parking area: not a worry for us.
We heard no dogs.
We had a great holiday and would certainly recommend Casa la Vista del Mar.

Dear John, thank you so much for your review and I am pleased to hear that you had such a good holiday. We are in the villa ourselves this week and have purchased many more wine glasses and have also ordered a new custom shower screen for the 2nd bathroom which is being installed next month; as you say the current shower screen de-rails too easily. We have also installed a lovely solar heated outdoor shower by the pool. Thank you again and I hope to welcome you again in the future. Best wishes, Jacqueline

“Disappointing but with spectacular views”
Reviewed 6 February 2017 for a stay in January 2017

After reading the excellent reviews and viewing the photographs of the property our expectations were quite high, however, there were a number of issues with the property which weren’t acceptable.

The Good

Spectacular views
Very comfortable bed in bedroom 1 (the only one used)
Table tennis in the games room (with spectacular views)
Fast, reliable wi-fi.
Kitchen well equipped

Now the Bad

On arrival pulled onto the drive, which looked like it would benefit from weeding and 2 plastic bottles lying around, which had obviously been there quite a while.

Thirty steps from the drive to the entrance door (completely unsuitable for those with any mobility issue and young children). Thankfully the pool man was at the property when we arrived and assisted my husband up to the villa with our luggage.

Steps in the lounge/dining area/kitchen and to the bathrooms and bedrooms very dangerous for young children and unsuitable for anyone with a mobility issue.

As stated in a previous review the cleanliness of the house was barely acceptable, the dining chair covers were filthy and it appeared that the villa hadn’t been given a thorough clean for a considerable time.

Covers on outdoor furniture under the pergola heavily stained.

One bath towel per person for the entire week, despite my husband and I paying the same rate as would have been the case if there had been 6 occupants of the villa.

On booking the villa I enquired if there was any heating, knowing that even in mild winter temperatures it can be very cool at night. I was informed that there were 2 heaters, which could be moved from room to room. In reality there was one ineffective oil filled radiator, which made no difference to the temperature in the very capacious lounge area. I e-mailed the owner, who requested the housekeeper to provide another heater, this arrived on day 3 and was left outside in its box for my husband to unpack and erect. The villa was very cold in the evenings and mornings.

The TV did not work, as a result of a subscription problem, and after a number of e-mails the problem was eventually resolved on day 4.

No storage shelf or cupboard in either of the bathrooms, nowhere to store toiletries or grooming products.

Bathrooms very dated and in need of modernisation. Shower screen over bath mouldy all along edge.

No smoke alarms fitted or emergency services’ number provided (fire blanket provided in the kitchen).

Be aware that it is not permissible to flush toilet tissue down the toilets. Not a problem for my husband and I but if sharing the house with friends could cause embarrassment.

Despite the above, we had a lovely week on a beautiful island and couldn’t get enough of the stunning views.

Dear Carole, I am so disappointed to read your review. We do our utmost to ensure that our guests enjoy the villa as much as we do. I must confirm for the benefit of future guests that the villa has a fire extinguisher, fire blanket and smoke detectors, the guest information folder also includes emergency services contact details. Many families have stayed in the villa, our own children since they were toddlers, and none have described it as dangerous? As clearly shown on the internal photographs on TripAdvisor the villa is split level, but only to the extent of a few shallow steps between levels, there are no flights of stairs as would be found in a house? The outdoor steps are all gated with locks, as is the pool area, so safety for children has been our priority. The majority of properties in Lanzarote work on septic tanks, there are no sewerage mains on the Oasis so bins by toilets are the norm, perhaps you haven't visited the Canary Islands before and are not familiar with this. The issue with the TV reception, which was out of our control, was resolved as soon as feasibly possible. UK TV in the Canary Islands can be unreliable and, in case of poor satellite conditions, the villa has a very large selection of excellent DVDs so there is never a shortage of things to watch. Likewise, as soon as we received a message regarding a requirement for further heating (the weather I know was unusually poor during your stay) another radiator was purchased and brought to the villa for your use. You were clearly out for the day, so the heater was left outside the front door for you, it only needed plugging in. If a request had been forthcoming for a change of towels, this too would have been accommodated in a heartbeat, this service is clearly included within the guest information? The bathrooms have white Rocca suites with modern taps, just 4-5 years old; they may not be ‘uber-modern’ but they are clean and bright. The villa is priced according to the accommodation; it is a traditional Lanzarote villa with added luxuries, such as cotton bed linen, feather pillows and duvets, lovely comfy beds, modern furnishings, newly installed kitchen and appliances, heated pool, well equipped with everything we think our guests may need. Additionally, TripAdvisor visited the villa and took many of the photographs on the site, so the villa is very accurately portrayed. I am just sorry that it was not what you were expecting. Kind regards, Jacqueline

“An oasis of peace”
Reviewed 24 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Over the past 20 years, we have stayed in many villas all over the world. However, we have only ever revisited a villa once, which we did this year in September for a second stay at Casa Vista Del Mar. The villa itself has everything needed for a perfect stay – lovely heated pool, relaxing outdoor areas with good quality heavy weight sun parasols (very useful in windy Lanzarote!), well equipped kitchen, reliable internet access, very comfortable beds, smart tv with English channels, as well as being immaculately clean. But the main reason must be the quiet, peaceful setting. The views towards the sea are stunning, especially watching the sun set over the mountains each evening. If you’re looking for lively nightlife, this is not the place for you. But for a complete rest, nothing can compare. We hesitate to recommend it too much – don’t want it to get too booked up! The only negative is that the equally excellent Barstro at the bottom of the hill has moved quite some way to its new location. The cantina in Tequise is a very good option especially if you like fillet steak - never had a bad one so far.
