Visited this little gem in Teguise on two separate occasions in October & really enjoyed the experience both times. Very friendly staff even when they are run off their feet!! The building itself is old and very quirky with a "SECRET" garden and little unexpected rooms. The background music took me back in time while I sipped my wine and waited for my excellent tapas on one occasion and the divine burgers on the second. Don't forget the chocolate brownie served in a tin mug!!.
See you early next year.
We went firt time on a sunday when the market was on and had tapas. We sat in the garden and the staff were friendly and the tapas was excellent.
We came back in a Wednesday and ut was very different. Coming again we realised the menu had a very small selection. We decuded to go for burgers, as they seemed to be a speciality. Waited ages to be served, only to be told they had no burgers! By this point we'd already fed our toddler and who was getting restless. I really didnt fancy anything else on the menu and orded a fisg tapas platter and just didn't enjoy it. And the service was really slow and unattentice - despite there only being 1 other table occupied. Felt very let down on our return!
Lunch among the hubbub of the Sunday market, great food and atmosphere, wanted to order everything on the menu, very good selection, see you next year.
Having visited just 14 months ago on a very quiet Saturday afternoon in August and having the most wonderful meal, we decided to return on our next trip to Lanzarote today and hope to re-live the experience of before. Same day and same time, we made the journey all the way from Playa Blanca just to have a late lunch at La Cantina but unlike before when we were the only people in the entire restaurant, a number of the tables were taken and it had clearly been busier beforehand with a number of tables uncleared. On arrival and looking for a table for 2 adults and 2 children, we were told by a waiter that we couldn't sit in the secret garden that we had been served in the previous time as it was too far put of the way for him to check on us, this area is only for Sundays now. We therefore decided to take a table inside. The same waiter told us we would have to wait for him to make a table up for us but then proceeded to explain that the kitchen was busy clearing up so only a small part of the menu would actually be available, no burgers, steaks or other such dishes could be prepared for us so effectively my youngest son had nothing he could eat available.
Having driven the distance we did specifically to return to La Cantina, we were all bitterly disappointed to be effectively turned away and missing out on recreating a past fantastic memory of the place. I do not understand why a restaurant that is open from morning into the late evening would only be able to serve a fraction of its menu at 3.30 in the afternoon, it makes no sense? We left with two very upset boys having been made to feel we just wasn't welcome....
