You can walk to the volcano from Playa Blanca, although we were staying slightly nearer at the H10 Timanfaya. It took us two hours to walk there, up, though the crater and back. Good views over the whole of Playa Blanca and out to Fuerteventura. The path is easy to follow and not too rocky underfoot, although there is some slippy gravel in places. If you're staying nearby, this is definitely worth a couple of hours of your time.

Not too difficult an ascent, and the view of Playa Blance and across to Fuerteventura from the top is well worth the effort.

On a cloudy day while cycling around the resort we cycled to the base and locked the bikes up, walked up the main path, steep and lots of loose gravel (certainly when descending). Although steep it is gradual and suitable if taken slowly for all ages. I would wear trainers though just for some grip. When you get to the top it was really windy and I would certainly be careful on the edge. It was a lovely walk then around the rim of the volcano and the views were spectacular. Really recommend a morning walk

Caught local bus, easy walk up,great views, windy, did not walk around the crater.
Suitable for all ages, even saw a jogger.
Well worth doing for the views and scenery if you are in the area.

This is a good activity for a few hours. You can cycle to the mountain and then walk up the little paths. The view from the top over Playa Blanca is brilliant. It's great to be able to walk down into the crater, too. The whole area is great for off-road running. It's very windy so be careful at the edges! We got to see lots of lizards with beautiful turquoise markings.
