What can I say about this beautiful place that hasn't already been said? We were fortunate enough to spend a week at the Don Ferrante and can honestly say that it truly is as special as everyone says it is.
Our room was very spacious with a an extra single room attached too it. The bathroom was well equipped with fresh towels daily. The window opened out onto the sea!
The staff go above and beyond their duties to make sure you have a wonderful stay with them. Nothing is too much trouble and they make you feel at home instantly.
Up on the roof is like a whole other world....and one that you don't want to leave. The restaurant serves some of the best foods I've ever tasted in Italy. Try the Octopus with Potato to start with and go for the Red Tuna as a main course. Oh heaven!
There is a selection of comfortable seating dotted around for you to enjoy either during the day or after dinner. We had many a conversation late into the night listening to the sea and enjoying a glass of Primativo wine.
The old town of Monopoli is literally outside the front door of the hotel ready for you to explore. It's buzzy but with a lovely relaxed atmosphere and plenty of restaurants and bars for you too enjoy. The labyrinth of narrow cobbles streets lend themselves to lazy walks before sitting down to a refreshing Aperol Spritz....delicious.
I miss the place!
Go....just go - you wont regret it!

We spent one wonderful week at this very unique hotel. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. So many fascinating features, beautiful roof terrace, stunning views, quaint narrow staircases, breakfast in the original gunpowder store with vaulted ceiling and steps down onto the rocks below. All spotlessly clean. Lovely plunge pool on lower roof with beautiful setting carefully and tastefully furnished. Very comfortable 6ft bed and excellent en suite shower room. Monopoli old town is charming, has narrow stone paved streets opening out into piazzas and winding through to the port one way and the main shopping centre the other. We didn't need a car, we walked everywhere with the odd excursion organised by the hotel. The hotel was everything we wanted it to be and more. Very relaxed, friendly and welcoming. We loved Monopoli and the hotel.

Room Tip: You would need to book early for a sea view.

This hotel is located conveniently in the old town so great to walk around everywhere. It is meant to be 5 star but not really sure why. When we turned up they seemed quite unprepared for us and they didnt know if we could park outside and unload our car. Surely they should know the restrictions? We also had to carry half our luggage from the beach car park to the hotel which was a bit off considering the hotel confirmation said that they would collect the luggage in a tuk tuk and park the car for you. Anyway the room was clean and nice but a bit gaudy and the safe in the wardrobe was not nailed down so could be carried away quite easily (what's the point of that?!). Also there was no turn down service or second towel change which is what you should have in a hotel of this supposed calibre and star rating. The breakfast was ok but only one waitress on who had to do everything - clear tables, get people's coffee etc. The rooftop pool is nice and clean but again we sat out there for a few hours and not once were we asked if we wanted a drink! We ate one evening on the roof and the view was lovely...but that is it. We eat anything but the menu was just trying too hard. The portions were small and it was overpriced for what it was.

We travelled to Italy for a romantic anniversary and the Don Ferrante was the cherry on the cake. The location is fantastic, on the seafront, the apartment was so stylish and comfortable, the services prompt, friendly and discrete.

A number of years ago I saw an ad for this hotel, I tore the page out and kept it saying someday I will go to Puglia and stay in this hotel. It was worth the wait. The hotel is lovely, sitting on the city walls with views of the Adriatic coast. The staff is amazing, always there to assist but never intruding on your vacation. They parked our car after unloading our luggage and then took us to our car in the tuk tuk when we checked out. Ate dinner on the roof top terrace and the staff, Alieso, Mimmo and Bruno, as well as the others were gracious, charming and attentive. The sun deck on the roof top was the perfect place to relax, enjoy the view, and have a cool drink. And the plunge pool with its rock waterfall was a great spot to cool down after time in the sun. Our room was well stocked, with a large bed and bathroom with dual sinks and large shower. Enjoyed every minute at the Don Ferrante and the town of Monopoli. Would return in a minute!
