“Really Lovely Place to Stay!”
Reviewed 3 July 2017 for a stay in June 2017

We had a really enjoyable 2 night stay at Lofty Heights. This was our first experience of a B&B house and it far exceeded our expectations. Barry, the owner (and designer/ builder) of the house was a great host; he gave us a warm welcome and was super polite and accommodating to our dietary requirements. His pride and enthusiasm for the house and the area was infectious and, along with his tips and insights, allowed us to make the most of our short break. The house is in a great location - so quiet and peaceful (you'll get wonderful sleep!) yet not too far from anywhere you'd want to go to. We enjoyed both breakfasts (the muffins were especially delicious!) as well as exchanging culinary tips with Barry.

The house was clean; we had our privacy, access to the deck and outside area and both felt comfortable and at ease staying there.

We'd definitely stay again if we end up back in Bruce Peninsula!

“Perfect long weekend getaway!”
Reviewed 7 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We had visited Tobermory about 3-4 years ago and fell in love with it. Because of limited availability in Tobermory we decided to stay at Lofty Heights B&B for the long weekend which is about 40 mins drive from Tobermory. I think staying at Lofty Heights B&B was one of the best decisions we made besides visiting the Bruce Peninsula again. Barry, the owner of Lofty Heights B&B is an amazing host, chef, guide and much more. He welcomed us with warmth to his home. Told us stories about how he built his house, and we got a lot of creative ideas from him on how we can improve our home when doing renovations or upgrades. We had complete privacy and the entire floor to ourselves. Watching the countless birds, including the most number of Blue Jays we've ever seen at once, and admiring the beautiful flowers in his spacious and very private backyard was another highlight of the visit. Both the breakfasts that he prepared for us were no less than gourmet meals. He was very accommodating of my allergy and made something special for me the next morning so I could enjoy my breakfast treat. He is well informed about the hidden gems in Bruce Peninsula. We hiked for few hours all the days during our stay and visited breath taking places similar to the ones in magazines. If it wasn’t for his suggestions, we would have probably visited all the touristy sites which were over crowded. Barry also told us of an almost secret spot on the west side of the peninsula where we can watch the sunset and the stars in complete peace, which was absolutely beautiful.

We will definitely be returning to Bruce Peninsula again and without a doubt will be staying at Lofty Heights B&B again.

“Lovely place to stay near Lions Head”
Reviewed 25 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

This was a modestly priced and very lovely place to stay! The house is located in the woods just a 5 minute drive outside lion's head. Barry was extremely helpful and suggested many wonderful hiking routes, scenic viewpoints and advice on traveling through the Bruce Peninsula. He even told us about a secluded beach for star gazing! 10/10 would recommend!

“Cute place, great service.”
Reviewed 10 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Good place for a couple or single. We only stayed one night and arrived late but the service was great. Barry gave us some great advice about local hiking and dining that made our day on the Bruce trail go off without a hitch. The location, although just a few minutes from Lions Head was in a dead zone for our phones but it didn't bother us for our short stay.

“Perfect little oasis of tranquility in the forest”
Reviewed 4 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

If you relish tranquility, Lofty Heights will be absolutely perfect for you. This little patch of paradise on the Bruce Peninsula is blissfully quiet. Be warned, you may not want to leave!

Location is perfect – minutes to beautiful Lion’s Head and close to some of the very best bits of the Bruce Trail. Owner, Barry, has trail maps and is great on advice about local walks all the way up the Bruce Peninsula.

Guests have run of the main floor of the house including a private bedroom and bathroom and unfettered access to the living room and garden. The owner built the house himself. It is a cleverly built little gem – quiet, calm, comfortable, with a calm, minimalist design ethos. We were there for two nights stay on a very hot July week and the place remained cool and comfy throughout our stay. The forest garden is absolutely charming. In the evenings we sat on the back deck with a glass of wine and saw nary a mosquito. Incredible!

Barry went way beyond expectations, helping us to bring my elderly, wheelchair-bound mother, who lives in Lion’s Head, for morning tea (served in china teacups) in the garden. My mother was enchanted and I will be forever grateful for this exceptional gift of kindness from Barry.

This is truly a special place.
