We were happy to get a nice Japanese meal in a country which is still deep-frying whole donkeys. NZ has only a few good restaurants and even the worst of them dare to charge you hefty. Too many UK roots I suppose.
A clever Japanese business man saw the gap and installed this restaurant annex souvenir shop for the billions of Japanese and mainly Chinese tourists in NZ.
Decent sashimi (without the classical leave decoration :-)) good tempura and good meat. The "bentobox" is a good mix (bento is not a take-away here). Don't expect Kyoto emperor kitchen but the food is good for a reasonable price. They cater loads of tourist busses. Better to book a table. Efficient and friendly service.
