“Awesome knives”

Barrytown Knifemaking
Reviewed 19 January 2018 via mobile

My husband and son had "the best day of the holiday" here! Knives are pieces of art and proudly being shown to everyone
Loved their time with Steven and Robin and we also booked their accommodation for one night which was great! Lovely home, very relaxed and stunning spot. Here's to Barry-pagne !!

Thank Bridget G

Really enjoyed the experience and the hosts, Robyn and Steven's hospitality, including the Barry-pagne. Both my wife and I love our knives.

The hospitality of Robyn and Steven from start to end was wonderful.
The whole day was brilliant.
Not just knifemaking but fun activities are abound during the day!
Would recommend to anyone who would like to craft their own knife, whether you are a hunter, angler, chef, or just fancy a great day out with something to keep as a momento - Barrytown Knifemaking is an excellent day out!

This has to be the most original activity that I've ever done and is a must for anyone traveling up the west coast. In fact one person had got up in the early hours and driven for 4 hours specially to get there for the day.

Don't worry if you've never done anything like this before or if you think your handy craft skills aren't up to much, with Steve & Robyn's guidance and enthusiasm you simply can't go wrong.

We always thought it would be good but from the minute I booked the day with Steven and Robyn saying "no worries" just turn up to arriving to pick up the keys to their rustic hideaway accommodation it was the start of an unforgettable weekend!
We were the only NZers with a Frenchman, Peruvian, English and German. A broad mixture of people out for an adventure. What transpired during the day was the best possible male/father-son shared experience I could have possibly wished for. The weather was outstandingly fine; the breakout activities simple but incredibly fun with long forgotten gems that made us laugh and at times gasp with excitement. But the main event "making our knives" was a joy that anybody could do with the patience, skills and guidance of Steven our West Coast adopted laid back craftsman and born entertainer conducting proceeding. From a slab of raw steel to a treasured piece of work the day was topped with a beer and "Barrytown Champagne".

Thank you both for one of the best day experiences of my life! I will be back with son number 2 in a couple of months!

Cheers Chris M
