This homestay is very quaint and nice! The room was somewhat small, but very functional and the hosts were very friendly and cooked a nice breakfast! They also have a very cool garden and a beautiful view of the ocean. It's a bit out of the town area, about 10 minutes.

We had a very pleasant stay at Dennis & Raelene's lovely home. It was very clean, spacious and our hosts were welcoming and entertaining! They were very accommodating and the home cooked breakfast a great touch. Notable mention.. the black boy peaches that were grown in the beautiful garden and served for breakfast. Divine! Recommended if travelling down the west coast and looking for a comfortable stay with some welcoming locals!

Dennis and Rae have got their house on the rugged west coast really comfortable for their guests. It is an ideal place to drop the bags, unplug and chill out. The bed was really comfortable and warm. Outstanding and uninterrupted views from the house to the wild rollers smashing in to the shore. These two original west coasters made our stay fantastic. Superb complimentary cooked breakfasts and home cooked dinners on request were had. This was our second stay her as we had stayed back in 2010 and we were itching to return and stay for a few days. This time I used Bluewaves as a base to do a knifemaking day at Barrytown Knifemaking 2 km up the road while my wife had the run of the house chilling out knitting. Dennis kindly dropped me off at the knife making too. We will come back for a week, not 2 nights. This is not a hotel - we were in their home, we were treated as friends and we will return.

We have stayed in quite a few B&B's over the years. This place is different in that the hosts really do allow you to share their home and living space, the breakfast is made in front of your eyes while you are having the banter and craic with Dennis and Raelyn. Go sit wherever you fancy in their lounge areas. Make yourself a cup of coffee. Pop your own beers in the fridge. Sit and have a yarn with Dennis, he would fit right in in Ireland, he has enough stories to entertain you for hours. The room we had was of average size but had a good view of the sea and as there were no other guests, we had full use of the shared bathroom. Good value for money and memorable!

Me and my partner stayed in Blue Waves' garden view room for 2 nights in February 2016. Unfortunately, the sea view room was already occupied for those days so we couldn't stay in that. But our stay was very memorable. The location is just prefect; one can actually enjoy the view of blue waves of the mighty Tasman Sea from their beautiful garden, living area and the sea view room. The room was decently priced and was very comfortable. There was also an extra bed in the room (so a family of 3 can also comfortably stay in this room). We had a private bathroom to ourselves. Punakaiki's famous Pancake Rocks is a 20 minute drive from their place. Dennis and Raelyn were very sweet and we felt at home with them. Dennis was especially very interactive and had some awesome stories to tell. We came to know a lot about the country and the people. Dennis even took my partner for a ride on his quad bike. This place is highly recommended for anyone travelling to Punakaiki!
PS: For anyone planning to book a room at Blue waves, please contact Dennis & Raelyn through their website. They are very fast to revert back and confirm your stay given the availability.
