We stayed at the Bluewaves for one night by chance and thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. Dennis and Raylyn were so lovely and entertaining. For dinner, we and two lovely ladies from Austria had the nicest lemon fish Dennis caught and grilled. We drank and talked well into the night. Oh, there was also the breathtaking sunset seaview from the beautiful garden that Raylyn created. If we come back to New Zealand again, we will go to Bluewaves again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Blue Waves as part of our trip up the west coast of South Island.

Dennis and Raelynn were excellent hosts who made us very welcome. Dennis was extremely entertaining, relating tales of his life as a "Coaster" and also cooked us an excellent evening meal of local fish caught by himself.

Recommended.

If you truly wish to better understand Kiwis you need to spend a night at Blue Waves, or longer if possible. Dennis and Rae are wonder people who love to tell about their life on the 'West Coast'. Dennis has experience in several different NZ industries and has most interesting stories to share. We spent several hours in the afternoon and several more after dinner talking and only wish we could have had a chance to stay another day.

The grounds are beautiful and the guest room most comfortable. However the best part is the expansive view across the front yard which opens onto the waves of the Tasman Sea. It was so easy falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves. It is so rare to have a seaside room let alone one this close to the ocean.

If you are able to stay at the Blue Waves do not miss the opportunity!

We spent a night here with Dennis and Rae. Dennis is definitely a character and will keep you entertained with stories all evening. Rae is a lovely hostess and great to talk to as well. We felt more like old friends than transient travelers even though there were many years between us and our hosts. They were even kind enough to make us dinner even though we never gave them notice we would eat there. It was great homecooking.

We were the only ones staying at Bluewaves at the time so it was quiet and we slept well. The grounds on their property were amazing! You can tell a lot of work goes in to making it a beautiful botanical paradise. There is a great backdrop of rainforest mountains to the rear and endless ocean to the front. It is located about half way between Greymouth and Punakaki. If you're staying in the area you should definitely consider Bluewaves Homestay as it gives you an great experience you can't get at a hotel.

We, a family of 5 with grown up kids, have stayed 2 nights at Raelyn and Dennis sweet home during the past Xmas time. We were heading from south (Wanaka) to North Island part (Abel Tasman) and wanted to make a stop near Punakaiki.
We have received a very warm welcome and our hosts made our stay very nice. We've learn a lot of things about NZ thanks to them. Dennys is a great BBQ cooker while Raelyn is a unique gardener expert. The house is surrounded by a nice garden and the beach is just across the road for long walks. We've really enjoyed our stay!
