“Fabulous cottage for a perfect mini break in a lovely part of the country”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Had a fabulous few days away staying The Cider Loft, the cottage was lovely and was full of character it had everything you needed plus lots of little touches which made it extra special. The location was perfect you can walk to the pub and restaurant which served amazing meals and nice local ciders and also down to the river wye which had a nice walk to the next pubs along!

Jayne & Bill were lovely and very helpful. Thank you for a lovely break.

“One week stay Cider Loft”

Had a great week here. Lovely loft. Everything there u would need. Cosy and comfortable. Enjoyed the welcome pack and the hosts were lovely. Lots to do in the area. Just a couple of things that did disappoint. The outside spaces were very run down. Windows and doors needed painting and cleaning and general sprucing up. Couldn't use the garden furniture for sitting or eating meals as it was covered in bird poo that was there when we arrived. And the table had a hole in it. The fact that there was no wifi in the actual loft. Available down in the main house if you wanted to use it. Also dog could get in the next door garden through the gate. I wouldn't let this put you off going but would be nicer again if those things were improved.

Thank you for your review, the outside doors and windows are oak and designed to be go sliver with age and should not be painted. We do provide dog proof gardens and in rare cases a guests dog has managed to find a way out into our main garden, this tends to be more of an escape artist than a problem. We have already mended the table and planted seasonal plants as we do every year. We do provide outside bird feeders to attract various birds into your garden for your enjoyment, they do tend to leave unwanted deposits, however these are regularly removed. Glad to here that overall you enjoyed our lovely cottage. Thanks Bill & Jayne

“Wye Valley Holiday”
Reviewed 19 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We stayed at the Cider Loft, Norton House, during a week's visit to the Wye Valley. I would agree with everthing already written about Norton House. It is a wonderful place to stay, ideally situated for visiting the many places of interest in the Wye Valley. The Cider Loft is an experience; beamed ceilings, spacious, very well equipped. The 'welcome pack' of eggs, bacon, sausages, home made bread and jam, etc., was excellent. Jayne and Bill are very friendly and offered us advice on places to eat and visit. There are a number of pubs within easy walking distance offering a good selection of food and beers. Parking is off-road but it is also ok to park on the road as it is not busy. Wifi is available in the house. Overall, an excellent place to stay!

“To close to a very busy noisy road”
Reviewed 7 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

The Cider Loft is a lovely cottage inside with everything you could want thought of. A very nice touch is the welcome pack. The garden and outside could do with a general tidy up but the worse thing is the main road next to the house, it is very noisy in the house if the windows are open and sitting in the garden is extremely noisy. There is no mention in the description of the cottage of the proximity to the road. We noticed that a lot of the reviews do not mention the road and describe the cottage as tranquil, it is not what we would call it. It is a shame but it obviously doesn't affect people booking the cottage, l only mentioned it because if we had of known about the road and the distance to symonds yat we would not have booked and maybe other people would feel the same.

Thank you for leaving a review, we were disappointed that you did not mention your concerns during your stay, although near to a road we have had hundreds of totally happy guests stay at the Cider Loft who have never mentioned the road as an issue.
We have many people book year after year who enjoy the location and all it has to offer. The garden did need some attention after many days of rain and indeed as soon as the rain had stopped, I was out there as usual making sure that the cottage was tended to.
We love sharing our home and cottages with guests and are exceptionally proud of the Cider Loft. Again sorry you were not totally happy and wished you would have shared your thoughts with us during your stay as we could have discussed them together. All the best.
Bill & Jayne
