We had our wedding here and everything far exceeded any expectations we had. Sonja and Michael were terrific and the food they prepared was amazing. I miss my coffee and breakfast overlooking the beautiful Tuscan countryside!!! We hope to be back soon!!!
When my now husband and I decided to get married in Italy, we had no place where to start. Almost immediately after we started our search, we found Villa Scopetello. Based on the reviews, it almost seemed to good to be true. And when it came right down to it, it was even better than we could have imagined.
From the minute you enter the property, you feel the magic of this place. The setting is unreal--for a group that has traveled around the world, this was honestly one of the most beautiful, peaceful places we'd ever been.
We had a total of 24 people staying at the Villa, and we had plenty of room to spare. We never felt crowded, and each couple had all the privacy they needed.
We chose to have our wedding, dinner and party at the Villa, and we are SO HAPPY we did. From the ceremony to the flowers to the prosecco reception, to the dinner and then dancing, it was a total and complete dream come true.
The location of the Villa is ideal. It is an easy drive to Montepulciano, Florence, Sienna, etc.
The food was DELICIOUS and Sonja is incredibly kind, gracious and talented. She made everything so easy.
If we could give Villa Scopetello 10 stars, we would! We cannot recommend this location highly enough. We are already planning our next visit!
We had stayed at the Villa for approximately a week with my family of two kids. The little ones had a fantastic time exploring the grounds, hanging out at the pool after exploring the nearby attractions, they had played with horses and rode a pony at the Villa and had a terrific time. The owners were so warm and welcoming to us, while giving us the space to be with our family and enjoy. They welcomed us and introduced us to some of the local restaurants, helped us navigate Siena, made a pizza night dinner for us in their brick oven when we all had a chance to make our own pizzas and had a wonderful time overall. The villa is located close enough to several towns and villages and the area is terrific to explore. We will be back there some time soon.
I highly recommend this villa as a rental for large families, family reunions, gatherings with friends or for special events such as a wedding. We rented this place as a mini family reunion and it was incredible. There are enough private rooms for individuals/couples. The location is perfect with quick access to many wonderful locations in Tuscany. Highly recommend the pizza night at the villa! The hosts are fantastic.
If you are planning a large group vacation, I truly cannot sing the praises of Villa Scopetello and its wonderful caretakers, Sonja and Michael, enough! I would go back in a HEARTBEAT! We stayed for two weeks in September 2017 and had 20 family members the first week and 20 friends the second week and everybody has continued to rave about this villa. It is so well-equipped to cater to large groups, and it’s just beautiful. The photos don’t begin to do it justice. There are multiple kitchens, with more than one fridge in each, which is great for big groups. There are tons of bathrooms for everyone and lots of showers, not just tubs. There is SO much to do on this property, it actually makes it really hard to leave! There are hammocks all over, the pool is ENORMOUS with lots of seating around it. It’s equipped with a pool house that has a toilet, shower and fridge for drinks, so you don't have to constantly run back to the house. The tennis court is great, we played soccer on it. There is golf, ping pong, a pool table, a zip line, a fire pit, and wonderful places to sit and chat all over the property.
Sonja and Michael are absolute MAGIC. They are the best hosts in the world! They are hilarious and such lovely, fascinating, caring, hospitable people. We actually hung out with them most nights and had a ball! Sonja is honest to goodness, one of the most talented chefs I have EVER experienced. Her Italian food is the stuff of dreams! She prepares multiple courses of gorgeous dishes that could seriously be on the cover of a magazine. We were in Tuscany for a total of three weeks, and Sonja’s food was, by far, the best we encountered. Amazing!
The property is covered in stunning olive trees, which just feels exactly as Tuscany should. They installed the B-E-S-T invention on the face of the planet…A WINE WALL in the back terrace. It’s literally a spigot that comes out of a wall and you walk up with your glass, turn it and red wine comes out. Brilliant!
There is the most breathtaking hotel called Locanda dell’Amorosa just a 10 minute walk through some lovely woods and hillside vineyards, it’s like a quintessential Tuscan hotel that is so picturesque, it feels like a movie should be filmed there. The hotel has a restaurant and a wine bar and so nice to be walking distance.
The villa is also reasonably close to many hillside Tuscan towns, that make great little day trips.
I would give Villa Scopetello 15 stars out of 5! I hope everyone gets the chance to go!
