We stayed at the Eschenhof from 3rd - 10th March 2018 for a week's skiing holiday. We received a warm welcome and our rooms were modern, comfortable, spacious, quiet and sparkly clean. The food was wonderful - beautifully presented, plentiful and delicious. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The hotel is family-owned and Mr and Mrs Ortner looked after their visitors personally. We were certainly made to feel we were valued guests. We have never stayed in such a generous hotel: 'afternoon tea' was available from 1pm till 4.30ish and was regularly replenished. (No coming in to find everything had been eaten and just a few crumbs left on the buffet!) The hotel also has a mountain hut restaurant and gives daily free vouchers for soup - a welcome lunch for skiers to tide you over between your huge breakfast, afternoon tea and 4 course evening meal. The owners hosted a prosecco reception one evening and there was a complementary tombola for guests with numerous prizes on another. We also received 50 euros discount for spa treatments.
The town is quiet - not a destination for those seeking apres ski nightlife - but very relaxing and friendly. The skiing is crowd-free, mostly on wide, pisted reds suitable for reasonably confident intermediate skiers. When we were there, it was possible to ski to within a hundred metres of the hotel - yet another reason to recommend the Eschenhof!More
