We have just returned from a family visit to Mollydishwasher, what can I say - this may be my favourite place on earth. Set in stunning countryside, a beautifully styled shepherd hut with possibly the best English breakfast served in rolling countryside. The children feed ducks, pigs, horses, quails. Mops and Issy are the perfect hosts. Wake up to deer in the same field as you!
As soon as you arrive you begin to relax!
Book and enjoy
What an amazing place. "Mops" was fantastic. We booked both huts so had 4 adults and 4 children aged from 4 to 7. Electronics out the window. We all loved the space and locality.
We so plan to return.
Ratings below wouldn't allow for excellent but I would have. No doubt.
We stayed in Skylark for 3 nights at the end of September. We are a small family from Germany with two little children aged 5 and 2. We had planned a short trip to Brighton and as our son talked about doing some camping (which I have never done before as I am more the comfortable sort of person) we had a look at some glamping options near Brighton and I stumbled upon Molly Dishwasher. The concept sounded very interesting, an old shepherd's wagon with your own kitchen and bathroom not far away. After contacting Mops, she recommended Skylark as the bunk beds had railings and the hut was closer to the bathroom.
And we sure weren't disappointed. The hut was really sweet and cozy! No electricity (there are battery operated lamps), no wifi (I bought a data roaming pass but the connection was often frail). The main bed was really comfy with a warm duvet. At first we had both children in the bunk beds, but as our son continued to hang his legs over the railing in the upper bed, we moved him to the lower one and our little daughter slept between us. Even though it was already getting colder outside, we were all snug and warm inside. And we didn't even use the oven.
Waking up in the morning we could look across the field onto grazing deer. For us city people an amazing experience! Breakfast was in front of the hut on the picnic table. A relaxing experience because the kids could run around when they were finished. And breakfast was plenty and tasty! Depending on the weather Mops brought the basket outside or placed it inside the kitchen (we did that on the last morning as it was raining).
The grounds are nice to explore with a super long swing and a zipwire. According to Mops one can even see badgers at dusk, but of course not with two noisy kids. Otherwise I would have tried! The children enjoyed collecting the eggs and feeding the sheep (such beautiful sheep! unfortunately I forgot what they were called). Our son even sat on the pony once. Overall Mops and her children were so friendly and helpful. Especially ours son still talks about them and asks when we shall visit again. In honour of one of the dogs, a toy (not a dog though) we bought at Waterstone's was called "Plum" ;-).
I would recommend Molly dishwasher for small families and also for couples. I could imagine it being very romatic! Thank you Mops for a lovely stay (and for the lovely cake)!
We recently spent a weekend in Mollydishwaser. It was by far one of the nicest weekends away we have had as a family. We spent our time swinging on huge rope swings, running around freely, feeding animals, little pony rides and egg collecting. Mops and her family get the children involved with it all then step away and continue to let you have your escapism. Fantastic facilities, private kitchen and shower. The other hut has its own facilities too, so you can have a leisurely shower with no one waiting, fab! Breakfast was either served to you in your private kitchen or on your private picnic bench at the hut and it was truly a feast! The hut was surrounded by the resident deer every morning at dawn which was amazing. If you want to get away, you must come here! Thank you for having us, regards Family Poole.
We stayed in skylark during a cold wet and muddy three nights to see how the kids would cope, they loved it! They enjoyed the farm and feeding animals and then tucking up in their bunk beds at night when the wood burner kept us all warm.
Breakfast was great I couldn't fault it
We did get very muddy but it was a fun experience and I bet it would be even better in the sun
Would stay again
