Clean but noisey

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Jan 2017
This motor inn is right on the main road out of Nelson so is extremely noisy.
It was clean but a bit dated. The host was very friendly. The double bed was old and very uncomfortable, but had a good bathroom and shower.
There was a band playing outside the restaurant which was nice when we arrived.
We went to the restaurant for dinner and had to wait over an hour for a very lack lustre dinner. We both had the same main, a prawn and scallop dish by the plates were not even at all. There was one chef and she appeared rushed off her feet. We would have stayed for dessert, but just couldn't.
Date of stay: January 2017
Room Tip: Ask to be away from the main road as it may be quieter.

The food at the pub was superb, very tasty and well presented.. unfortunately, this is where the good things finished....
Place looking very tired and in need of some tlc. Window fittings falling apart, cables going across the wall, very untidy and lack of care. Noisy due to main road being so close, pub there closed at 9pm on a Friday night with no offer of more beer or last orders, it just closed..
Nothing open in the morning so had to go out for coffee..
The place has heaps of potential with a few handy man jobs completed, some management training and a lean 4X4. Massive missed opportunity with morning meals, breakfast, drinks or snacks.
Place could be superb with a few tweaks here and there, unfortunately this was not the case..

We stayed overnight in one of the studio rooms. Price was $115 which was fine for Nelson at this peak time of year. The walls of the room were quite thin so we could hear the couple next door snoring, and the shower went cold half way through - perhaps ran out due to being a late shower when the place was fully booked. Regardless it was pleasant enough for what we paid. Room was massive and complimentary milk for our tea. The WiFi code wouldnt work for either of us though.

We had a great stay at Brightwater Motor Inn. Staff were very attentive and helpful. We were spoiled by the kitchen staff with a generous serving of pudding. We had a nice walk down the rural roads and a short drive to the supermarkets in Richmond. Facilities as expected for price. Thank you!

We stayed here with a sprots group in September. The place was great and accommodating and the untis were tidy and clean. The only down side was the bed was not that comfortable, a little soft and lumpy.

Room tip: Away from the road is quieter.
