Have stayed at this place a number of times and although its basic we have had a great experience but this last time was a nightmare ......
1. Went to have dinner which was nice and there was a party going on which is to be expected (the owners bday) when the lights were turned off half way through we soon got over this
2. the music was very loud and went on till the wee hours of the morning .... still we can manage this but.....
3. what we couldn't handle was the chief drunk as skank yelling and swearing in the small hours of the morning no giving up and braking bottles etc ( we were a party of 3 women and 2 young kids ) this was very frighting we ph owners at 7.30am complaining about this she wasn't really interested .We packed up and left after no sleep

We stayed at the Brightwater Motor Inn over a weekend recently while participating in a sporting event in the area. The rooms were clean, tidy and of a good size - nothing flash but it met our needs. The owners/managers were pleasant.

The motor inn is located on a busy road but while there was plenty of traffic during the day it was quiet enough at night.

We didn't see a laundry anywhere but that wasn't a problem for us given the short stay. Apparently there's a laundromat just up the road at Stoke if you need one.

I'd stay there again if we were participating in the same event.

Naturally visitors would prefer to stay in Nelson, that's usually the destination, however the town fills up pretty quick in holiday seasons. I arrived late evening early January and there were NO ROOMS in Nelson, Richmond or immediate surrounds.
Fortunately I had noticed the Brightwater on my drive in (it's about 16 km from town).
They had rooms, the price was Ok for the time, they serve food.
Room clean smallish but adequate (average roadside motel).
Very quiet.
Value & welcome in a jam.
Bring the Rid or Aeroguard.
