Really good value for money. The welcome could not be faulted and they were really friendly. The units were very clean and roomy and had everything you would want. Helpful map and suggestions for a evening meal.

We were disappointed that the experience did not live up to the supposed 5 star rating. An uncomfortable slat bed, never experienced in a motel before, only blue top milk available, and not cheap for what is an older style motel. The staff were welcoming and helpful but only relieving for the owners over the holiday period. Would stay elswhere if we visit Hanmer Springs again.

We are sorry your "Settlers Experience" did not meet your expectations. Qualmark NZ evaluate our business annually and consistently rate us "5 Star Gold" (the highest rating) Our beds and room furniture are all hand made in line with our overall "Settlers" theme. 96% of our 684 Trip Advisor reviews are rated excellent or very good. We're not sure of the significance of relieving managers being a factor as Alan & Vivien have undertaken that role occasionally for us over the past 10 years. At times motel owners need a break too. Our high season prices (Xmas/New Year only) are in line with other high quality accommodation providers in Hanmer Springs. We offer a wide range of excellent value rates throughout the year which vary on a daily basis depending on demand.
Our complimentary milk is indeed standard blue and is intended as a short term solution prior to visiting our local supermarket or convenient store which offers a wide range of milk choices.
We are very disappointed too that you did not enjoy your stay with us.

From the moment Jill welcomed us in reception we knew this motel would be good. Friendly, knowledgeable & great customer service.
Jill escorted us to our room on the 1st floor ... showed us how everything worked.
Room was big with its own lounge/breakfast/kitchen area. Very well equipped.
Bedroom was large & comfortable. Also had a TV in the bedroom.
Bathroom was a good size. Great shower pressure & large. Good amenities... even a couple of bandaids just in case.
Free laundry .. powder, machine & dryer.
Towels available to take to the springs.
BBQs available for use ... great restaurants around ..
Walking distance to pretty much everything. Especially springs!!
Great collection of DVDs to borrow & watch in your room.
Car spot outside your room in huge.. unlike some of the smaller ones we have come across on our trip.
Motel hosts have pretty much thought of everything. Very well equipped & comfortable.
Highly recommended.

We stayed for 2 nights in a balcony room with a spa bath. We didn't think we would use the bath, but it was great to use when we arrived after a day travelling. We then walked around the corner for a special meal at a restaurant recommended by Alan. The next day we enjoyed exploring the wider area in the morning and relaxing in the afternoon, including a trip to the pools that was included in our "Deal' stay. The use of towels was very helpful. If we were on a longer trip we would have used the freely available laundry, if it had rained we would have used the umbrella... as it was we appreciated the thoughtfulness of our hosts in having so many extra touches. The bed was very comfortable and the balcony enjoyed on our second night when we could sit outside over a snack meal and enjoy the sun. The week before Christmas was a great time to stay - maybe again next year.
Room tip: Our room was accessed by a stairway which was fine and made the balcony extra special.

Quiet, clean and comfortable stay where the hosts have thought of every detail to make your stay welcoming and comfortable. Walking distance to the Hanmer Springs pools, restaurants and cafes. Set a high standard for the rest if our NZ trip.

Wow, thanks for your kind words. We have tried hard to provide those little extra things that guest occasionally need while traveling. Insect repellent, band aids, fly spray, cooking oil, makeup remover to name just a few.

Great place to stay. Bed was comfortable and unit was clean. Extra little touches were great also esp the umbrella outside the door just in case it’s needed. Host was also friendly and obliging. Would definitely stay again.
