Comfortable, clean stay

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Jan 2017via mobile
Basic but clean stay. We stayed in a chalet which was fine for what we needed. The staff friendly, decent playground and clean pool for the kids. Games room, nothing flash, but why would you want it to be? :-) surroundings beautiful, country-like, fresh air, quiet. Water pressure in shower not the best but expected as we're not in a large city in hanmer springs. Easy parking. Clean linen on beds, beds and pillows comfy. Nothing flash but comfortable. Few little issues like bulbs blown and some out dated kitchen utensils/pans etc but nothing major. Own carport a bonus! Shame it cost us a small fortune for kids to play games in gaming room but to be expected. No extras like drinking chocolate, biscuits or shampoo etc but free liquid soap was lovely bonus thanks! Being clean is the most important to me so we will probably return as kids loved it and it was clean!

Stayed at this accomodation twice on our way to, and from, Queenstown. On our way there we stayed in a chalet. This comes with sheets, kitchenette, bathroom with shower. Also lovely area outside for the kids to have a run around.

On the way back we stayed for two nights - first night they accommodated us at the last minute (had been full but had a cancellation so called me to let me know so we could stay) in a cabin plus. No bathroom, but nice little kitchenette and nine beds in two bedrooms and a lounge. Enjoyed the flat screen tv which could be viewed from the bed.

The second night was our favourite - tourist flat number 5. Smaller than our accomodation the night before, but right next to the playground, so we could sit at the table outside our accomodation and watch the kids playing on the playground. The kids were in one room (two single beds - we put a cot in that room too, lots of room. The lounge area also had a queen (or double?) - can't remember the size but big enough for two of us. Great kitchen in this unit, as well as full bathroom.

No sheets provided in the tourist unit or cabin plus, but you can hire them for a small fee I think. We had sleeping bags so no worries there.

The manager was really nice and put a key out for us when we let them know we were going to arrive late the second time we stayed. He also went and turned on the heater and lights for us so it was nice and warm when we arrived.

Can't wait to stay again.

Room tip: Tourist flat 5 is next to the playground so great if you have kids

We stayed in the tourist cabins which were clean and comfortable. This is a really traditional kiwi holiday park with a playground and small pool. Our son had a great time running around with the other kids. It was a little further out of town than we thought but it is only 5 min drive so no major issues there.

Great spacious campsite. Plenty of space for our large caravan. Just a 1-2 minute drive from town. Facilities excellent and clean. Great showers & kitchen which seemed to be regularly checked for condition and cleanliness. Games room and TV room good too. Manager was very helpful upon check-in, accurately explaining tracks and activities in the area that we were interested in. Camp has interesting activities on site for kids - Rope trail and similar activities, and plenty of space to run around and ride bikes etc. Good mountain bikes available for hire.

We had been staying for a week and had lovely time there. We enjoyed cooking in a kitchen in the room, walking in forest, and relaxing :)
The owners are friendly and kind. Thank you for everything! We'd love to recommend your awesome accommodation :)

This is the third year we have come to stay for a night on our way down south. It's not always easy to find a place where our dog is welcome inside and we really do appreciate it! So many places say they are dog friendly but dogs can't come inside! - top job guys!
