I've visited a few times now, and always find something new to see. The exhibits are always well put together and interesting, and the museum ladies always friendly and helpful. Not worth listing all the items here, but definitely would recommend a visit, as it's well worth a look.
This museum is in the old court house building and contains two rooms of exhibits. One is devoted to the soldiers from the area who fought in the world wars and the other has several interesting exhibits, including a case devoted to old cameras. The lady at the information desk was very helpful.
I took my kids (9 and 7 years) to the museum in the last school holidays. They really enjoyed it. It is small (really only a couple of rooms) but some interesting things to see and the staff were very welcoming. The kids loved seeing the map of Cambridge from the early 1900's.
A small museum on the other part of town centre, away from where the main road passing Cambridge, therefore is not easily seen by passer-by, but this museum has plenty collections. Plenty of special unique collections related to Cambridge History in the past. Only two rooms for the displays, one room for the various historical stuff, and the next room is dedicated to the memories of World War 1 and 2, and the local people who sacrifices their life for the country. The lady at the museum explained to me that they need a bigger building to display properly all of their collections, good plan for the future. It is free entry, but donation is welcome and encouraged.
Thanks for your review. We look forward to extending our exhibition space in the future.
The small Cambridge museum (once the old court house) is easily found at one end Cambridge's main street. There is a conspicuous wall painting outside, and a small sunken garden.
The various exhibits reflect recent history, through themes such as photography, clothes, horses and practical utensils.
I loved listening in to recorded conversations with Gallipoli war veterans via the telephone exchange.
Well worth a visit.
Yes, our telephone exchange has always been very popular. We're glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the review.
We spent a great hour in the museum looking at the artefacts and collections, free entry and browse to your hearts content.
I loved the school boo, hand written story of the earthquake. What an insight and to be a treasure here for us to read- amazing!
Flash back in time with the old photo albums and get to know a different Cambridge. Don't miss the currency transporter in the information area.
Staff very kind and helpful, thank you.
